Here is a short lesson on what 'state of the art' means in relation to high altitude endurance surveillance (and engagement!) technology.Quote:

So can you point us to some non-US surveillance tech which will out gun the MQ9?
Illusion :rofl:Quote:

Shure.
Then what? They go on chopping heads whilly nilly?
W/out the presentation upon the word's stage re the atrocities they won't have any
conpulsion to not chop away whenever. Remember, we're living in the world of Twitter, Snapcheck etc. This isn't contained or spun ala Walter Concrite, Dan Rathers etc. :yup:
So I am getting the feeling that ISIS is not just some rebels wanting to take over Iraq. Instead, they are portraying themselves as the new nation for all muslims regardless of your nationality. They are now comprised of UK citizens, Australian citizens, US citizens and many other nationalities who are all muslim. They seem to be fighting to take over all of the world similar to Hitler since they are killing people of other religions and other sects of islam.
Am I on the right track? If so, there is no real way to defeat or destroy ISIS since they represent individuals all over the world. They have effectively used social media to recruit members and it seems to be working. How can you eliminate such a threat? Is it even possible using conventional weapons?
Yes. They are claiming a Caliphate.

Oh it's an easy task.Quote:

It's just we never go all in. Half measures never work.
Stop them now or stop the cause of them joining together as a force to fight back with their long sharp knives, stolen weapons, stolen oil, stolen gold, stolen media savvy marketing consultants.
Or we admit that it is all a farce! Drummed up, planned, executed supported, armed, managed and publicised by .................... RUSSIA!!
Sure does seem to be easy to steal stuff in the middle of a desert.
Yep, there are 3 ways.
1. Carpet bomb or nuke the whole region (inflicting a fair bit of collateral damage)
2. Send in a few hundred thousand ground troops and risk a few flag-draped body bags being sent home
3. Defeat the IS "ideology" on an moral, intellectual and religious basis making it unattractive for new recruits.
Supporting the Syrian government in its fight against IS rather than supporting forces opposed to the Syrian government might also help quicken the demise of IS.
My tongue was firmly in my cheek with 1 and 2. :)
Surely no sane person would even consider number 1.
For number 2, I really doubt even a coalition of the willing would send in a few hundred thousand ground troops to Syria and Iraq. And you are right, it won't stop the 'movement', just disperse it for a while.
Only number 3 is possible. I agree that it cannot be done by non-Muslims. As it has to be done on an intellectual and religious basis, it has to come from a large group of serious and senior religious thinkers, scholars and academics. It's not something that can be done in a few hours over a pot of tea and a 15 second spot on the evening news, or some silly pronouncement on a piece of A4 paper posted on a blog somewhere. It has to be extremely well thought out, detailed and well referenced. That's what IS seem to have done. To counter them, the scholars have to be equally thorough. It will take time, but I think it's the only way. Maybe they are doing that right now. Who knows?
^ You are not going to beat them with words.
They are destroying mosques and burning libraries full of well researched opinions.
They are fundamentalists who want to live directly by the word of the prophet, not some Imams interpretation of it.
Nope, they are fighting for their territory which happened to be vacated when the US chucked out Sadaam . . . Iraq and parts of SyriaQuote:

Check out Lebensraum and Germanic lands to give you an idea what the wanted . . . and it has nothing to do with the US, Australia, Argentina, China etc.... that is all simplistic propaganda
Even Hitler wasn't mad enough to think of world domination . . . not like a certain superpower nowadays

Yes, the IS are fundamentalists who perhaps want to live like the prophet (I'm not totally convinced), but that in itself is an interpretation of how the prophet lived. (There is no 100% accurate 'Diary of the Prophet" to follow, and there's no Kalashnikov, rocket launcher, oil refinery or SUV in the Quran or Hadith, and they can't turn the clock back). It's their interpretation of the Quran, Hadiths, Sira and Sunna versus other interpretations. The folks of the IS are justifying their actions by words, by quotes from the Quran and from various Hadith. They are recruiting using words, producing "glossy magazine" style PDF files (available to download on the internet if you search for them), using Facebook, Youtube and Twitter, all with their own take on religious justifications for their 'cause'. It's a battle of minds as much as anything. An intellectual battle. Propaganda, if you will. But it appears to me that IS is winning the propaganda war. Propaganda. Words.
And when I wrote "senior religious thinkers, scholars and academics", I thought it would be clear that I didn't mean just "some Imam".
To make it easier to destroy them, make it a priority destroy their money. Any source of internal revenue, such as oil refineries & pipelines etc, take 'em out. Any external source- such as those that bank for them, or contribute to them, or buy from them, take 'em out. They are Isis too.
And apply sanctions ... :)
Ocker, I have to disagree with you (big surprise I know). ISIS does appear to be justifying what they have done because hey fèel they are the true representatives of Islam. By taking selected writiings of the Quran, they have justified what they have done and will continue until all muslims recognize them as the only correct religion. To do this they must purify everything around them by killing all others that do not believe in their specific interpretation of Islam.
ISIS has also destroyed ancient artifacts in Mosul that they feel are false idols and have secretly sold many for cash to fund their fight. Do you really think they will stop once they clense all of the Roman Empire as you state? I don' think so. Their primary goal is to eliminate all infidels and to rule in a manner that is only consitant with their warped interpretations of the Quran.
If this does not smack of wanting to rule the world, I do not know what does.

4. delivering "intelligence" to enable them to plan and execute their war?
5. Delivering medical aid - other than what can be stolen in the desert?
6.
If the above is followed there would be a lot of crusader coalition countries blacklisted, sanctioned, cut off from SWIFT, bombed etc..
Taking them out would be pretty difficult, who would do the taking out ISIS?

The top photo is when they have run out of "Aid" and are showing The Great Satan they need more "Aid".
The lower one is when they are collecting the "Aid" dropped to them by their benefactors!
Cowboys and Indians, more like restocking the livestock.
Following the Hun/Portuguese/Spanish/British attempts and failures, along with the USA ongoing attempt which will also end in failure.Quote:
