Shortly after the shooting began in the town of about 13,000 residents, a man carrying an American flag, wearing a Trump hat, and carrying a pistol on his hip approached news cameras.

The man, who did not give his name, said his goal was to "get to the school. Make America great again."

Another man then told reporters "we need prayers".

Trump sends his love and support. It appears the security guard intervened and....got shot.

There is a solution out there. The rest of the world knows it is the best solution. The US prefers big company profits to that solution. Stupid is what stupid does.

As I read, I thought you were announcing a score.
Such as, Ebola 4, Gunowners 451.
A more succinct point, I think.

And this particular shooter displayed no signs, other than a few strange choices in attire, not unusual for a teenager. Bring out the teddy bears and candles.....

All in good time. They'll turn him into a long time nutter soon enough.

Let's hope the 'March for our lives' group get some renewed energy and a few million more supporters.

Heard an interesting comment on news today. More high school kids killed this year than military deaths.

I was going to go to the states on a sightseeing tour. My travel agent suggested I try somewhere safer so I've decided to go to Mecca as a Christian pilgrim.

I believe sightseeing at the border fence is quite popular at the moment. Apparently a must see from the Israeli side according to the latest N.R.A. travel brochure ( assault rifle optional extra).

It occurs to me that from the language and terms created (‘active shooter’ etc.) to the rote responses and invariable inaction afterwards, to the apparent lack of surprise anymore at the latest ‘deadliest mass shooting since...’, that the US has normalized the murder of schoolchildren.

Think it is more a frustration that the shootings continue. Clearly there are multiple aspects to reducing the incidents. Problem as I see it is folks are divided as to agreeing to a comprehensive solution. Addressing the mentality of the shooters, school security, availabilty of firearms, and a general culture of violence are all needed.

To a degree some of these measures can be done at the community/state level and are being done with good results.

The contentious and political charged issue related to 2nd amendment rights is the fly in the ointment to have a comprehensive solution but without it a reduction in the number of shootings will occur but not near enough. Addressing this can only be done at the federal level. Given the total lack of common sense and political compromise atm we won't be seeing much change to federal gun ownership laws.

Folks want instant solutions but there are none.

If routine piles of dead kids isn’t enough to spur change nothing is.

I always contrast it to that lawn darts game. A tiny handful of kids were injured and one or two killed from them. Result: they were immediately banned and it’s no longer legal to import or buy them.

Simple problem solving reallly, if a 3 yo is beating his sister with a stick, you take away the stick then deal with him.

Take away the guns then start working on the mental health situation in schools. Gotta have a leadership at the top that can see past their bank accts tho.

IMO.......shitz gonna get alot worse before they get better

I agree Norton so will they run out of victims before these crazed ARMED morons are disarmed.
The arguments are well known and such incidents and knofe/acid attacks do happen in other nations very rarely.

We can all think of many US tragedies Sandy Hook Florida Night Club now the Texas School Waco the list is endless, hard to recall any mass shootings in places I visit UK, Thailand Denmark Canada Ireland New Zealand, I am sure there are rare individuals, suicide pacts , robberies gone wrong. So there are laws and policing that work.

If the American people cannot pass laws and enact them it will go on indefinitely, the rap drug culture and its glorification of vioelence, Hollywood all glorify this "COWBOY CULTURE" which makes teh once great nation an exceptional pariah with ts death rows , morgues full of children.

It is shameful that all the next round of POTUS candidates wont commit to repeal the 2nd amendment and keep guns where they belong with the police and armed forces, armed civilians and militia men are what happens in third world places.
