Sad really...I don't often look at this thread anymore, and tend to skip over the mainstream news shooting stories unless there are double-digit fatalities. The rest is just boring and predictable. Americans seem happy with the 'new reality'....so, up to them.
a. They can sell investments in gun/ammo manufacturers and dump mutual funds that include such organizations in their portfolios...
b. Where politicians of both parties are supported by the NRA, they can write in a candidate...
c. They can forward all thoughts and prayers to the NRA...
However, if frequent mass/school shootings across the country aren't enough to spur folks to action, they deserve every bloody bullet they get...

Man Celebrating 21st Birthday Kills Himself Minutes After Accidentally Killing His Best Friend, Police Say

(MERRILL, Mich.) — Authorities say a Michigan man celebrating his 21st birthday accidentally shot his best friend and then killed himself in grief.
WJRT-TV reports Zachary Woodcock shot himself minutes after he accidentally shot 21-year-old Richard Skillman, who died at the scene.
Saginaw County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Gomez says Woodcock was celebrating his birthday Jan. 19 with friends in his apartment in Merrill, northwest of Detroit.
Gomez says Woodcock returned from his bedroom with a handgun that “went off and struck Mr. Skillman in the chest.”
As others were helping Skillman, witnesses told police that Woodcock left the apartment.
Gomez says “they heard a shot, walked out and there he was.”
About 10 guns later were found in the apartment and Skillman’s car.

(CNN)Four people, who were all in their 20s, were shot and killed Sunday at a southern Pennsylvania car wash.
The shooting happened about 3 a.m. ET in the village of Melcroft, 42 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Officers found four bodies and two injured people -- including the suspected gunman, identified as Timothy Smith, 28.
As of late Monday morning, Smith remained on life support and wasn't expected to survive a gunshot wound to his head, said Trooper Robert Broadwater, spokesman for the Pennylvania State Police.
"It is a possibility that the gunshot wound to Smith was self-inflicted, however that determination has not been made at this point," according to the police report.
Smith was wearing a body armor carrier without the ballistic panels inserted. He had several magazines of ammunition and three firearms -- an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, 9 mm handgun and .308-caliber rifle, police said.

Well there you have it then.Smith was wearing a body armor carrier without the ballistic panels inserted. He had several magazines of ammunition and three firearms -- an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, 9 mm handgun and .308-caliber rifle, police said
The only thing that would've stopped him would've been a good guy with two AR-15s, a 9mm handgun and a revolver, and a .308-caliber with military-grade scope/NV sights.
...it is entirely possible he was deer hunting and mistook the car wash for a dense urban copse...
Understandable mistake.
And those deer can be sneaky and dangerous bastards. Hence the need for military-grade hunting equipment.
Maybe he was rabbit hunting. It was a mean rabbit.
I remember years ago a senior police officer on the Algarve, announcing on television, that he really thought that the Portuguese people didn't care how many were killed on the roads leading to the holiday destinations of the South... they just want't to get there.
Whilst this may be more applicable to Thailand and the annual massacres at Songkran and the New Year I do feel that Americans have become numbed to these events and, as long as it is not in their community, just put it to one side.
Getting your family housed, fed and educated becomes your topmost priority. Deaths by shooting are what happens to other people.... Until it is one of yours. By then it is too late.
Not strictly relevant to this thread but nowhere else to put it so...
