    Five IRS Scandal Myths:

    1. It was a few rogue agents in Cincinnati
This claim has crumbled in recent weeks.

    2. The targeting stopped in 2012
Jay Carney told reporters last month that the IRS targeting “stopped in May of 2012.” Apparently not.

    3. Liberal groups were also targeted
One way in which the administration’s defenders have sought to downplay the severity of the scandal is claiming that the IRS also singled out liberal political groups for extra scrutiny. That doesn’t appear to be the case. As McClatchy reported last week, “virtually no organizations perceived to be liberal or nonpartisan have come forward to say they were unfairly targeted” since the scandal came to light on May 10.

    4. Absolutely no political motivations
Democrats also insist that, in the words of former White House adviser David Plouffe, the IRS targeting of conservatives “was not a political pursuit.” Although the inspectors general’s audit found no evidence of political motivation “at this time,” there are numerous factors suggesting a systemic liberal bias within the tax-collecting agency.

    5. The case is ‘solved’
Elijah Cummings, ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, seems to think so. “Based upon everything I’ve seen, the case is solved,” he said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. “If it were me, I would wrap this case up and move on.”

Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R., Calif.), certainly disagrees. And so does the Treasury’s inspector general, who has emphasized that the findings of his audit are merely preliminary, and that many details are “still to be determined.” Lerner, a central figure in the scandal, has declined to testify, despite being urged to do so by newly appointed IRS commissioner Danny Werfel.
And despite President Obama’s insistence that “we’re going to hold the responsible parties accountable,” no one at the IRS has been fired. Four individuals have either resigned, retired, or, in Lerner’s case, been place on (paid) administrative leave.

According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of the president’s handling of the scandal. Lawmakers are unlikely to be satisfied until they see some greater accountability or, at the very least, some honest answer.

Republicans struggling to connect Obama to IRS scandal

The House Oversight Committee’s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service and its targeting of Tea Party groups has yielded no evidence that the White House was involved. The original story — that this was the work of a few employees struggling to handle a growing workload — remains intact, and the available information we have throws water on the idea they were motivated by partisanship. The IRS agent who initiated the flagging, for example, was a Republican. And several of the groups denied tax exempt status were — as the New York Times reported recently — ineligible, given their partisan activities. These facts, however, have not stopped congressional Republicans from insinuating a broader conspiracy.

IRS Agents Seen Training With AR-15 Rifles.

You’d think the standard 9mm handgun would be more than enough firepower for an IRS law enforcement agent.

Getting a little more creepy every day:

"Rep. Jeff Duncan wants to know why IRS law enforcement agents are training with AR-15 rifles.

As chairman of the House Homeland Security oversight subcommittee, Duncan (R-S.C.) toured a federal law enforcement facility in late May and noticed agents training with the semi-automatic weapons at a firing range. They identified themselves as IRS, he said.

“When I left there, it’s been bugging me for weeks now, why IRS agents are training with a semi-automatic rifle AR-15, which has stand-off capability,” Duncan told POLITICO. “Are Americans that much of a target that you need that kind of capability?”

While Duncan acknowledges that the IRS has an enforcement division, he questions if that level of firepower is appropriate when they could coordinate operations with other agencies, like the FBI, especially in a time of austerity."

Republicans Watch Another Fake Scandal Die; IRS Manager Reveals He Is A Conservative Republican

Oh, the sad, sad Republican party and their pathetic attempts to discredit the administration are once again foiled. In recent weeks we have watched a number of right-wing manufactured scandals drown in seas of facts. It was very entertaining, to say the least. First, the hopes of the Republicans to impeach Obama with Benghazi-gate were dashed. And, of course, Fox was being unfairly targeted by Obama with the Rosen scandal. Then Umbrella-gate was quelled almost as fast as it rose. After umbrella-gate, we had the stupidest of them all…..Salute-gate. Finally, the scandal that got Republican’s tinfoil panties in a bunch? The targeting of Tea Party groups by Obama’s liberal IRS hit squad out of Cincinnati.

Tony - do you tink Carlin would be a Obama voter then?

it is rather amusing when a flag waving obamabot thinks that Carlin was talking For you, as opposed to against you. You keep stuffing up Carlin stuff but with your views, you most likely have never ever watched any of his stuff.

Oh and how many tax breaks has Obama handed out to his friends and supporter, Opologist boy?

Obviously YOU have never listened to his stuff!

he may not of been a democrat but He was surely not a conservative republican

and MOST of his political humor over years blasted conservative republicans!

We come into a clearing and there's potatoes on the ground. Now, my instinct would be, let's everybody get some potatoes. "Everybody got a potato? Joey didn't get a potato! He's small, he can't hold as many potatoes. Give Joey some of your potatoes." "No, these are my potatoes!" That's the Republicans. "I collected more of them, I got a bigger pile of potatoes, they're mine. If you want some of them, you're going to have to give me something." "But look at Joey, he's only got a couple, they won't last two days." That's the fuckin' difference! And I'm more inclined to want to share and even out,"

"I understand the marketplace, but government is supposed to be here to redress the inequities of the marketplace," Carlin continued. "That's one of its functions. Not just to protect the nation, secure our security and all that shit. And not just to take care of great problems that are trans-state problems, that are national, but also to make sure that the inequalities of the marketplace are redressed by the acts of government. That's what welfare was about. There are people who really just don't have the tools, for whatever reason. Yes, there are lazy people. Yes, there are slackers. Yes, there's all of that. But there are also people who can't cut it, for any given reason, whether it's racism, or an educational opportunity, or poverty, or a fuckin' horrible home life, or a history of a horrible family life going back three generations, or whatever it is. They're crippled and they can't make it, and they deserve to rest at the commonweal. That's where my fuckin' passion lies."

    Nice post. Carlin hated all politics and politicians. The only thing is that right wing republican and thier so called values are excellent cannon fodder for a comic because they are so idiotic. I mean break it down;

    Homophobic
    Racist
    War mongering
    Greedy
    Sexist
    Religious zealots
    Corporate servants

To proscribe to just a couple of the above you have to be really empty inside. Go ahead and pick two words and separate them by a hyphen.

Apparently Huckabee has come out encouraging churches to give up their tax exempt status. Love to see that come to fruition.

Yeah, George Carlin's political humor was fantastic, and he took the piss out of everybody, but bottom line, the Rethuglicans provide the best material-

Most Americans Think IRS Targeting An Intentional Act To Punish Political Opponents.

“Two-thirds of American voters (66 percent) think the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative groups as part of a high-level operation to punish political opponents."

A pretty damning conclusion wouldn't you say?

Oh boy, sound of liberals heads exploding again. Seems one of their main go-to guys in support of ignoring the IRS Scandal(s) is having second thoughts:

Democrat Elijah Cummings says we gotta look a little deeper into just what is/was going on with these IRS folks.

Rep. Elijah Cummings is backing away from his assertion that the investigation into the IRS scandal is “solved” and says he still wants to work with Republicans on the probe.
In a brief interview with POLITICO on Wednesday, Cummings said that he was trying to argue that — contrary to some GOP comments — the investigation has proven the Obama administration didn’t order the IRS to target conservative groups applying for a tax exemption.
“The witch hunt needs to end,” said Cummings, who is the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. “What I meant was the witch hunt.”
Cummings said the investigation isn’t over and he’s open to interviewing additional Cincinnati-based IRS employees and holding more hearings on the scandal.
The controversy started on Sunday when he told CNN’s Candy Crowley “the case is solved and if it were up to me, I would wrap this case up and move on.”
Republicans immediately pounced and have kept up the pressure."
