The corrupt BBC protecting another one...

Claims made by the mother at the heart of the BBC presenter scandal are "rubbish", a lawyer representing the young person has said.

In a letter to the BBC, the lawyer makes claims that throw doubt on the story that has dominated front pages through the weekend.

It says the young person sent a denial to the Sun on Friday evening saying there was "no truth to it".

However, the "inappropriate article" was still published, the lawyer said.

A spokesperson for the Sun said: "We have reported a story about two very concerned parents who made a complaint to the BBC about the behaviour of a presenter and the welfare of their child.

"Their complaint was not acted upon by the BBC.

"We have seen evidence that supports their concerns. It's now for the BBC to properly investigate."

BBC News does not know the identity of the young person and has not spoken directly to them.

It has not seen any of the Sun's body of evidence, or the dossier the Sun reported was handed to the corporation by the family over the weekend.

In their letter, the lawyer writes: "For the avoidance of doubt, nothing inappropriate or unlawful has taken place between our client and the BBC personality and the allegations reported in the Sun newspaper are rubbish."

The Metropolitan Police are "assessing" information from the BBC over the allegations made against the presenter.

They're encouraging speculation by not naming the suspended presenter.

    Why?

Still at the rumour stage. Several other names have been banding around as well. It may be prudent to wait until there is a statement from the police or the Beeb.

A BBC star who has been accused of paying a teenager for sexually explicit images allegedly made calls to them after initial reports emerged last week.

The unnamed presenter allegedly rang the teenager, who is now 20, and asked 'what have you done'? The corporation has suspended the star, who reportedly also asked the 20-year-old's mum to get their mum to "stop the investigation".

Mirror Online reports that the BBC were told of the allegations in May, with the Beeb announcing on Sunday that an unnamed male member of staff had been suspended.

The parent of the teen claims her child was paid over £35,000 for sexually explicit pictures. She claims her child used the money to fund a crack cocaine addiction, adding that the presenter "destroyed her child's life".

In a statement, the BBC confirmed it became aware of a complaint in May, before adding that "new allegations" were put to the organisation on Thursday, July 6.

To get a sense of how this situation unfolded, here's a timeline of all the events so far:

Friday 19 May: The young person's family complain to the BBC about one of its presenters, according to the Sun newspaper
Thursday 6 July: Allegations "of a different nature" are put to the BBC, according to director general Tim Davie
Friday 7 July: The Sun publishes claims that a BBC presenter paid a teenager £35,000 for sexually explicit photos
Saturday 8 July: The Sun on Sunday publishes more details of the presenter's alleged actions
Sunday 9 July: The BBC confirms a presenter has been suspended and the corporation is in touch with police - with the Met confirming an "initial contact" has been received
Later on Sunday: The Sun publishes more revelations claiming the presenter made "panicked calls" to the young person, and reports that the family are upset with the BBC's response to the allegations

I think that the only BBC show I like to watch is 'Have I got news for you'. I've always liked that. I'm in the UK now and can't find anything to watch, on any channel.

When I'm home I do listen to a lot of BBC radio... the World Service and nighttime Radio 5 Live, and a lot of podcasts. I would like to think my license fee went towards them, if I paid for one.

I only used to watch it for Top Gear and cbeebies for the kids when they toddlers.

They spent Millions moving their HQ up north to Media City in Salford.

The financial incentives offered to staff were ridiculous.

Most wanted to stay in their London bubble and work remotely.

The BBC licence fee has always been just another tax.

Fortunately you can exempt yourself every 2 years by declaring you don't require a licence.

FFS I don't want to walk in the rain right now, do I have to sign an online declaration for that???

The BBC is far more of a social broadcasting service than a political one but nice try, I am sure if you remember everything I say and double your efforts, you may get me one day and what a triumph that will be for you.

I will retract somewhat and agree there are a few decent programs but their twisted social agendas are worrying.

Remember when chinless twat Piers Morgan got well and truly scammed by some fake "Iraq prisoner torture" photos that were taken in the back of a van in Dorking or something?

And yet still there are "Mirror readers".

If you think the beeb are corrupt, have a look at what RTE have been up to....

As reviews were announced, and RTE executives appeared before Oireachtas (Irish parliament) committees, lurid details of further barter account spending emerged. There now appeared to be three barter accounts, which were used for lavish expenses.
€138,000 (£118,061) went on Ireland rugby tickets at the Aviva Stadium. €111,000 (£94,962) was spent on a client trip to the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, with expenditure on the Champions League final between Liverpool and Spurs the same year costing €26,000 (£22,243).
Bizarrely, nearly €5,000 (£4,277) was spent on 200 pairs of Havaianas flip flops for a summer party for clients. Many thousands more went on tickets for Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks and Harry Styles gigs, as well as hotels, and expensive restaurant meals.
Almost €8,000 (£6,844) was allocated for a Spice Girls concert. €2,000 (£1,711) went on balloons.

    <snip>

Infamously, RTE's chief financial officer Richard Collins told politicians he didn't know what his own salary was.

The mother and step-father of the youngster also questioned who had paid to provide their child with an expensive lawyer.
Yes that's entirely baffling, isn't it?

    Here you go chitty:

Why has the BBC presenter not been named?

There are libel laws to stop a blameless person being defamed. Naming the BBC presenter would be justifiable if allegations could be proved to be true on public interest grounds. But so far, neither the presenter nor the youngster has spoken publicly and only The Sun newspaper has claimed to have seen any evidence. There have also been creeping judge-made privacy laws in the UK. In 2018, Sir Cliff Richard won a legal case against the BBC after it filmed a police raid on his property and named the singer, when he was wholly innocent. Last year the UK's highest court ruled that people under criminal investigation should have a 'reasonable expectation of privacy'.
