Iran - the next US target?

John Bolton has stated that Iran is sponsoring terrorism in Iraq and is the reason why the US are not winning the war there. And in the same week that Tony Blair stated that the diminishing oil reserves mean we must consider nuclear power as a sensible source of energy, Bolton says that Iran must not be allowed to continue its nuclear program. In fact, he simply says that Iran is building nuclear weapons and refuses to concede that they might need nuclear energy as an alternative to oil.

American soldiers are now being told that they have a license to kill Iranian 'activists', whatever that means.

Clearly, Bolton's statements that the US needs to refocus its intentions and strategy for Iraq are simply a veiled attempt to hide the fact that the US administration now wants to bring Iran to its knees.

How will the rest of the civilised world deal with this? Not sure, but I'm glad I don't live in the Middle East.

Can't remember the exact words but you get the idea.
Bolton has also said that the US want to stop Iran using oil revenues to sponsor terrorism, so they have a duty to curtail their oil supplies. So what will they do for energy then?

They want regime change. Heard these words before?

I believe the actions that the U.S. will take against Iranians are Iranians aiding or conducting operations, or gathering intelligence inside Iraq.

As stated by another poster, and at times myself, the Americans are supporting the same groups as the Iranians:

    Nouri Al-Maliki,
    Sayyid Moqtada Al-Sadr,
    Sayyid Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim,

These are the Shiite groups that comprise the current coalition government in Iraq.

This is the very same government that the U.S. is supporting.

    And, so is Iran.

The U.S. and Iran are actually supporting the same side.

    ............

April 7th 1980 broke diplomatic relations with Iran.

So there isn't much harmony to be seen.

Maybe Iranians are missing their big macs and KFC buckets of fried chicken.

Instead of bombing Iran with explosives we should just spray the entire country with pig feces.

    Mr Earle mate,

    That's not what I mean.

I mean....that the U.S. and Iran are supporting the same sides in Iraq.

    Right now.

I guess I neglected to make my point that any perceived cooperation between Alsadyr and the USA and Iran is likely unintended. But who knows, I just think we should give them all a nice bath in pig shit.

i've got a few dogs, and one of them is a small little bitch that barks alot whenever someone begins to approach my home....but once they come up close to the gate she runs like hell, and doesn't make a peep.

it's kind of funny....she's all courage and bravado when there's no real risk. i guess it's kind of like posting on an thailand internet forum and thumping one's chest about the ME.

    Yes, I read that too.

This is starting to sound like convenient propoganda.

The US is harmless, just trying to distract the public from that other little failure, Iraq ? It would be a civil war in the US before they can invade Iran

Never underestimate a President with historically low poll numbers to do something desparate in an attempt to turn them around.

In the last 2 years of a Presidency many Prez's try to do altruistic and noble things to superficially try to install a sense of "legacy" for the historians.

I just wonder who is in W's inner circle right now.

    30% approval ratings.....

Won't happen, and that's not the way it works.

^I think they are trying to sort out the current fiasco and finally dealing with a major instigator: Iran.

If they weren't doing something about Iran the liberals would be crying how they should do something. You cannot please contrariness that is so ingrained.

Hmm, do you mean the same "liberals" who are now objecting to 'something to be done about Iran', or could it be that different people have their own opinions on politics, whether they are "liberal" or not?

    Hypothetical.

The Iran issue is definatly not about liberals, either.

Depending on her audience Hillary seems pretty concerned about Iran.

The iranian weapons and iranian trained terrorists in Iraq aren't imaginary.

The anti-american rhetoric coming out of Tehran also seems real enough.
The nuclear ambitions of Iran also seem pretty clear.

We should send in a few thousand tomahawk missiles and annihilate their oil, water and electric infrastructure. They want to go back to the dark ages let's help them turn off the lights.
