He's a pragmatic centrist who is morally and ethically sound. His family has experienced bigotry because of their religion. ^yep, Barry is playing to a narrow audience, he will loose if he cant win the support of the independant voters.
The conservatives will rally together and the independants seem to be giving Romney an edge for now.
Obama and his crew have been caught with thier hands in the cookie jars. Its not looking good for them.

    Officially starting, May 5th

President Barack Obama's first re-election campaign trip will bring him to Richmond on May 5.

Campaign officials say the president, accompanied by first lady Michelle Obama, will come to the city for a rally at Virginia Commonwealth University's Siegel Center.

Richmond will be the second stop on the trip. The president will visit Ohio State University in Columbus earlier in the day. Campaign officials called the two college appearances "the first two public rallies of the campaign" but did not give further details about the focus of Obama's remarks in Richmond.

The visit, which will be the president's fifth to central Virginia since September 2010, underscores the state's importance to both parties in 2012. Obama won the state by 6 percentage points in 2008, marking the first time since 1964 that a Democratic presidential nominee carried Virginia.

The stakes are arguably higher this time around, with Virginia considered by many to be a critical swing state.

While Obama's re-election campaign already has opened 13 offices in Virginia, the state's Republican Party is building an infrastructure to support its party's eventual nominee — by all indications, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

A spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, Allie Brandenburger, said of the VCU visit that Obama may be "officially launching his campaign in Virginia on May 5th … (but) it's clear to anyone watching that he has been campaigning on the taxpayer dime for months."

The Republican Party of Virginia's Victory 2012 effort has seven offices around the state, and it has hired a Hispanic outreach director to work full time out of Northern Virginia, where the Hispanic population has boomed in recent years.

Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling is the chairman of Romney's Virginia campaign. Gov. Bob McDonnell, a potential vice presidential running mate for Romney, endorsed him in January and has campaigned for him in several states.

Political observers expect Obama and Romney to be frequent visitors to the commonwealth as they vie for Virginia's 13 electoral votes.

A hotly contested U.S. Senate race that could feature two former governors — Democrat Timothy M. Kaine and Republican George Allen — also drives the electoral stakes higher for both parties.

On March 9, the president visited Rolls-Royce's Crosspointe Centre facility in Prince George County, where he proposed a $1 billion national network of research centers meant to improve manufacturing competitiveness and encourage U.S. investment.

The first lady visited Richmond and Charlottesville on Jan. 11. She will address graduates at Virginia Tech on May 11: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/v...ay-ar-1869673/

    Oh Fuck! Karl Rove?

Karl Rove is not like those strategists. In 2008, his week-to-week update of the electoral college map was spot-on, and correctly calculated the margin John McCain would lose by. Rove is out with the first edition of his 2012 map:

That would get Obama to 275 electoral votes.

^ as you know, rove always has an agenda.....he knows full well that this story will reverberate through the republican echo chamber (blogs, drudge, WSJ editorial page, fox "news').......he's trying to motivate the GOP base to the polls and scare billionaires into donating to his crossroads super-PACS.

^my mistake (I copied from the site). It should be Obama 284 (with leans) and Romney 172 (with leans). Anyway,.same result, Rove predicting a second term for Obama.

Obama revs up his campaign against Romney and then reminds us of the GOP's War on Women,.........

Y'all recall Tricky Dick's Enemies List? Well, B. Hussien is taking it one better:

The Obama reelection team has publicly accused eight private citizens who donated to the Mitt Romney campaign of “betting against America” and of having “less-than-reputable” records.

Apparently, making an example out of two GOP members of Congress wasn’t enough for President Obama; he has moved on to bigger game.

Obama’s reelection campaign “names and shames” eight private citizens and describes them as having “less-than-reputable records.” In fact, the site goes so far as to say that “quite a few” of the donors have been “on the wrong side of the law” and that they have profited at “the expense of so many Americans.” “The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear: You made a mistake donating that money,”

Strassel: The President Has a List - WSJ.com

That's just foking lovely. Anyone who give money to the Romney Campaign can expect the IRS etc to come down on them eh? The Obummer must be feeling the heat since word is out that his money machine isn't pulling in the high rollers like before...

The video outlines the challenges America faced as President Obama took office at the height of the worst recession in almost a century and details the progress that has been made reclaiming the security of the middle class and building an economy that's meant to last, where hard work pays and responsibility is rewarded.

    great vid, s_landreth.

    a couple of things....

    1. for anyone who wants a list of the president's many accomplishments and for some reason can't watch the total 7 minutes, just watch 5:10-6:20. very, very impressive...particularly considering he was up against the "party of no".

    2. i wonder if the new slogan is going to be 'forward'. i like it. not only is it optimistic, but it links romney to the past (ie bush).

    3. i'm still worried about the dark money flowing into the romney/rove super pacs, but if this video is any indication of what the committee to re-elect has in store, i'd put obama's chances at 55%. slightly less than intrade, but in the same ballpark.

Its not looking good for Barry when his own party is turning against him.
An increasing number of Democrats are taking potshots at President Obama’s healthcare law ahead of a Supreme Court decision that could overturn it.
The public grievances have come from centrists and liberals and reflect rising anxiety ahead of November’s elections.
“I think we would all have been better off — President Obama politically, Democrats in Congress politically, and the nation would have been better off — if we had dealt first with the financial system and the other related economic issues and then come back to healthcare,” said Rep. Brad Miller (D-N.C.), who is retiring at the end of this Congress.
The MSM, aka the obama cheerleading squad will spin this as best they can.

I don't follow 'stars' and their comments, but this is another reason for my loathing of BO. Class warfare rhetoric. The "rich" The "wealthy." He has not even mentioned the accelerated decline of the middle class.

Loath is too kind a term for this poster's regard for B. Hussien.

Take this example of his so-called 'Smart Diplomacy' & 'Gutsy Calls':

Gutsy call: Obama ducks question on Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng, feigns concern about human rights.

^ i posted something similar on another thread.....it's a smart play by the committee to re-elect.

americans love their dogs, and once voters find out what romney did to his, he's going to lose a lot of votes.

i really think it's going to cause people to stay home on election day...and there are already a lot of other traditionally republican voters who will likely stay home for various other reasons--he established the blueprint for obama care in MA, he donated money to planned parenthood, he's a mormon, etc...

Too true, carryon. Just Bobalicious, bambo said.
sorry jet. facts matter. here is what president obama wrote in his book, 'dreams of my father'...

"With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy),"
so as a boy of 6 or 7 in indonesia, he was given some dog meat and snake meat to sample.....it wasn't his dog. nice try.

willard, on the other hand, put the family dog (seamus) in a crate on the top of his car, for a 12 hour drive to canada. needless to say the dog was terrified and literally started shitting all over itself...and what did willard do? he pulled into a gas station, hosed the dog shit off the car, and kept driving.

Just an update from a rightwing site (RealClearPolitics - 2012 Election Maps - Battle for White House)

If you open the site and view the swing states of Virginia (electoral votes 13) and Ohio (with its 18 electoral votes) you’ll see the polling is trending towards Obama to beat Romney.

Let’s do some addition,.. RCP 253 (given) and Virginia (13) and Ohio (18),…….Obama has 284 electoral votes. Obama gets his second term.

Columbus, Ohio (CNN) -- President Barack Obama used the first official rally of his re-election bid to highlight the accomplishments made during his three and a half years in the White House, and to make a case for a second term in office.

"We are making progress and now we face a choice Ohio," said the president, at a rally at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus. "This is a make or break moment for the middle class and we can't turn back now."

In his 36-minute-long address, Obama tied presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney to Republicans in Congress, saying that if elected, Romney would rubber-stamp the congressional GOP agenda, telling the crowd that "we cannot give him that chance."

"That's the choice in this election, and that's why I'm running for a second term as president of the United States," added Obama.

The speech highlighted the narrative that the Obama campaign hopes to push this year: reminding voters how many millions of jobs were lost before the president took office: Obama outlines case for re-election at first official campaign rally - CNN.com

Too bad he was playing to a half-empty arena, eh?

View from floor during @BarackObama speech. Not the “overflow” crowd he promised.

A police officer guards the upper tier before US President Barack Obama’s speech during a campaign event at the Value City Arena – Schottenstein Center on May 5, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio. President Obama is traveling to Ohio and Virginia where he will hold rallies and officially begin his re-election bid for the 2012 US Presidential election.

Doesn't look too happy does he? Heh, just a portent of things to come.

^ let me guess....some half witted right wing blogger took photos before the event actually started (or photoshopped empty seats into a photo) and they're now claiming that attendance was low. predictably pathetic....and only illustrates their desperation.

if there is an enthusiam gap, it's on the the GOP side. here is an actual photo of a romney event a few weeks ago:

and btw, looking at your video s_landreth, that's a massive turnout for a campaign event 6 months before the election. let's hope all those people are registered and go to the polls on election day.
