^ highly misleading though, that was near the trough after the crash

a better measure would be volatility of the S&P 500, and Obama would lose there compared to GW Bush

Yeah, all that near 0% money loaned by the Fed to investment banks. Of course the market is up and Goldman Sachs is wondering where the average sucker is.

    I see your point, Ray

    You're responding to the charlatans.

But the stock market is about people dumping money into the one or two places they can - and that is even bad.

On the eve of the 2008 presidential election, I distinctly recall booner assuring us of a McCain landslide kitty. He is a very accurate contrarian indicator.

Some of the Democrat enthusiasm for Obama have gone as real politics have taken over the Obama agenda in the past presidential period. I have little doubt Obama will win, but it wont be with the same high Dem expectations as last time, for many maybe just that they have no better alternative which is pretty sad IMO, the candidates on both sides are weak and the petty personal character assassination election campaign's reflects that.

"A new USA Today/Gallup Poll shows Democratic voter enthusiasm is down sharply from the past two presidential elections.
Only 39% of Democrats say they are "more enthusiastic about voting than usual" - that's down from 61% who felt that way in 2008 and 68% in 2004."

And a parody video maybe expressing the disappointment some Democrats feel about promises they think Obama have not delivered on, is just now having a very good showing on You tube.

Even Kaiser Permanente disagrees with Romney.

Fact-Checking Romney: Does Health Reform Cut Medicare, Levy $500 Billion Tax?

ABC News’ Chris Good and Shushannah Walshe report:

In expressing his opposition to Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling, Mitt Romney provided some jaw-dropping numbers as to why he believes the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is “bad policy” and a “bad law.”
“Let me tell you why I say that. Obamacare raises taxes on the American people by approximately $500 billion,” Romney told reporters. “Obamacare cuts Medicare by approximately $500 billion. And even with those cuts, and tax increases, Obamacare adds trillions to our deficits and to our national debt, and pushes those obligations onto coming generations.”
So, where does the Romney campaign come up with those numbers?
They cite a memo written by Richard Foster, chief actuary of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (part of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services), that claims the ACA will, says Romney, “cut Medicare by more than $500 billion.”
So does it “cut” Medicare by $500 billion?
Medicare spending will continue to grow, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), but ACA will slow that growth. According to a report from the Kaiser Family Health Foundation over the next 10 years, the federal government will devote about $500 billion less to Medicare than it would have without ACA.
CMS and the Kaiser Family Foundation tell ABC News that there will be no benefit cuts to Medicare. They say instead of Medicare’s being cut, there will be much more spending at the end of a 10-year window, but it does slow the rate of that growth. This is all unless Congress makes drastic changes to Medicare, for example passing House Budget Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan’s Medicare Plan.
CMS says—and Kaiser agrees—that spending will be reduced by getting rid of fraud and ending overpayments to private insurance companies. It sends a message to those insurance companies: Operate more efficiently.
And instead of cuts, the CMS says they will be able to fund new benefits, including free preventive care and broader prescription coverage, including closing the “doughnut hole” affecting seniors.

Heh...with 3 months to go they're getting right down into one of those desperate flop- sweat modes!

"...the Obama campaign sent out its most desperate fundraising email yet. Following in the footsteps of their other emails cursing out Americans (e.g. “Let’s win the damn election”), and tweets deriding Obamacare opponents as “motherf***ers,” now the Obama campaign is spluttering mad over the Paul Ryan pick by the Romney campaign."

    Further desperation or what?

Obama wrongly accuses Bush (and Paul Ryan) of causing the Great Recession.

The end (November) can only come too soon for Obama.

    This is certainly fitting:

Mitt Romney used a tough new campaign speech to personally blast the Obama campaign on Tuesday, saying comments earlier in the day from Vice President Biden are “what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like.”
“Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago,” Romney said while campaigning in Ohio.
Romney was responding to Biden’s suggestion that the GOP ticket’s economic policies would “put y’all back in chains.”
The vice president made the remark while campaigning in Virginia, during a discussion of Wall Street regulation.
“They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street,” Biden said. “They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing.

Obama 2008 Co-Chair Hits Trail ... for Mitt - Artur Davis will campaign in Virginia today

Obama 2008 Co-Chair Hits Trail ... for Mitt

Artur Davis will campaign in Virginia today

    By Matt Cantor, Newser Staff

    Posted Aug 15, 2012 9:29 AM CD

(Newser) – The man who seconded Barack Obama's presidential nomination at the DNC in 2008 is now campaigning against the president. Artur Davis was co-chair of Obama's first campaign, but he'll today campaign in Virginia in support of Mitt Romney, a Romney campaign aide tells CNN. Davis served four terms as a Democratic congressman, but announced a switch to the Republican Party in May.

"I think the Obama administration has candidly gone too far to the left. You can raise all kinds of questions on whether that's good politics or not," Davis told Wolf Blitzer. "Obviously the election will determine that." Davis will appear at an Arlington event today, where he will "discuss Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s bold ideas to strengthen the middle class and deal with our long-term debt," a Romney insider tells Buzzfeed.

Notice the msm "snarky" remark: giggle

Caterer at Obama event wears snarky T-shirt in 'silent protest'

They obviously aren’t vetting the caterers at Obama campaign events these days. Iowa deli owner Ross Murty, who helped serve food to the White House Press Corps Wednesday during a presidential stop in Davenport, wore a snarky T-shirt that read "Government didn’t build my business. I did.” The quip is a slam at remarks the president made several weeks back about taxes on the wealthy, in which he suggested people don't build businesses without help. Murty, who was out of town when his Democratic business partner booked the job, agreed to show up but wore the T-shirt as a protest. [Source]

Gallup: 60% of Adults Disapprove of Obama's Handling of Economy

A new Gallup poll finds that only 36% of Americans approve of Obama's handling of the economy. 60% disapprove. This rating is far lower than the past three two-term presidents at this point in their first term. This single issue could make it hard for Obama to get his overall job approval rating where it needs to be to be assured of a second term.

On the issue of the "federal budget/deficit", though, Obama actually scores lower. Only 30% of Americans approve of the job he is doing. He also scores low marks on "creating jobs" (37% approve) and immigration (38% approve.)
