Yes, that is one option I considered (for a nanosecond). They are 2 very nice girls, but rather ..er.. plump.

Anyway, I decided on the Thai approach and said 'up to you' as far as moving hotels is concerned. Since they were wowed by my skills with their Russian laptop, they have decided to stay.

I've already dealt with the karma bit - the hotel next door uses my wi-fi for free anyway.

Reminder to self - get some Russian language lessons

You touched on one of those funny subjects that can drive one insane in Thailand and seldom gets discussed; hotels that claim to provide free internet.

In America if I wanted to access the internet on the road, I'd just park in front of any large hotel and access theirs, but the Thais seem so paranoid that someone is going to get anything out of them for free they have to have passwords or blocks of some kind to control who uses it.

The last 3 or 4 times I've stayed at any hotel here I've simply given up, either they give you the wrong password or the clerk pretends to have no idea what you are talking about when you ask for it. Most times you just know it won't work before you even try.

It would be too simple to not have a password or hand you a small piece of paper with the correct one when you check in.
