I`d like to add a few more Krabi tourists attractions.

Koh Hong with much of the same layout as Ao Maya of Koh Phi Phi Ley.

Ao Luk district with Than Bokkharani national park and the 2 signinficant caves of Tham Pii Hua Dtoh and Tham Lot.
Only accessible by boat and located in lush mangrove among spectacular limestone outcroppings.

The 2 adjoining cat fish farms/restaurants outside of Krabi Town. One of them has a clear stream running through the outdoor restaurant suitable for a cool dip.

Khao Phanom Bencha NP with the waterfall Huay Dtoh, excellent place for an excursion and a cool swim.

The hidden Princess Pool inside the karst formation of Hat Phra Nang. Several very nice view points on the way.

Moslem fishing village located on the brink of the Krabi River, they have some interesing sea creatures in nets here.

We recently visited Krabi and listed a few activities we did while there. I also did a review of a nice resort we stayed at for a few evenings which you can see here: http://teakdoor.com/thailand-hotels-...irlfriend.html (Rayavadee, Krabi Thailand with the Thai girlfriend)

Little history on how Krabi might have gotten its name (and no it’s not after a Crab, even though the picture above was taken while we were in Krabi),……..

The name of Krabi is associated with many legends. One relates to a battle over the daughter of the local governor, after which a hermit cursed all the people involved in the war and turned them into mountains, bays, caves and islands, etc.

Krabi means sword and it was used as the symbol of this province. In 1872 local people in Krabi found an ancient sword at Ban Na Luang and they presented it to King Rama V. It was then that His Majesty named the province ‘Krabi’.

Some historians say Krabi’s name comes from ‘krabue’ which means buffalo, since Krabi has a lot of buffalos and was the market for nearby provinces. Some dispute this derivation, and say that Krabi actually means monkey since this city was once one of the twelve satellite cities of Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Ban Thai Samor’s city mascot is a monkey.: Krabi

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

    I`ll go with that.
Krabi Krabong is a is a weapon-based martial art, where the performers fight with a sword in each hand.

There are regular shows in Krabi, where the performers show their skills.

Ko Hong has one of the best beaches in Thailand and yet hardly any people make the trip out there. Wonderful beach with lots of fish straight off the shore.

Popular tourist-destination cave in Trang closed following heavy rains
    October 24, 2013

Trang - The authorities closed a popular tourist-destination cave after heavy rains caused the cave's entrance to be flooded.

Chayanan Kaenkaew, an assistant director of the Trang office of Tourism Authority of Thailand, said the Tham Le Khao Korb cave in Huay Yod district would be closed to tourists Thursday and Friday.

She said heavy rains for four consecutive days caused the entrance of the cave to be flooded.
