| The Dog | Phuket Sapan Hin public park Sapan Hin public park in Phuket City Special for Andaman News NBT (VHF dial) + maybe FM90.5 Radio Thailand at 8.30am & perhaps relays/repeats on local Cable TV channel 1, broadcast to Phang Nga, Krabi & Phuket provinces, & possibly FM108 Mazz Radio 7.30pm in Phuket, Wednesday 16 July 2008 & National News Bureau Public Relations Department Contact AndamanNews[at]yahoo.com Saphan Hin public park, under the Office of Phuket City,is situated at the end of Phuket Road. It is the main recreational park for residents in the city. A tin mining monument stands prominently at the entrance. It is the symbol for this public park. This is the only park in Phuket city which is located by the sea. Almost every late afternoon, we can usually see many people in the area relaxing & appreciating the natural beauty & facilities. Many choose a shady spot under the tall pine trees suitable for family activities. Some opt to just sit quietly to observe the calm sea. Many other people go for open spaces & outdoor sports or exercise, breathing in fresh air at the open gym. Apart from enjoying the ocean view, the park is also surrounded with great varieties of trees & greenery, creating shady & pleasant scenes for visitors and passerbys. Saphan Hin is also home to one of Phuket's eco-tourism sites. There's a mangrove forest, a coastal ecological system, rarely seen in a fast growing citylike Phuket. The Office of Phuket City not only provides green zones of fresh air to residents, another zone within this 207 rai park hosts Phuket's major sports centre. There are gymnasiums & stadiumsto serve health enthusiasts who love sports, outdoors or indoors. Saphan Hin park is compared to a lung which provides clean air for Phuketians. The residents here can be close to nature and help conserve declining greenery for the public park to continue pleasing the next generations to come.
