Andaman storms & Phuket

wed, 5-14: more storms are crossing the Indian ocean.

do these storms have much effect on the andaman / straits of malacca beaches? or does Sumatra block most of the swells?

normally the swells in the northern Indian ocean are 2'

storm waves are headed to the southern coast of Oz this week

I watched the 12' - 15' swells headed across the Indian into the Andaman last week without realizing it was a cyclone.

Better watch out for those arrows - take your head off if one of them blows into you.

Don't take it the wrong way, Foreigner.

Actually, my hobby is Annual Rainfall and I collect shovels.
I'm on the look-out for a Spear & Jackson, the one with three brass rivets.

are you putting this stupid poster on?

OK, I'll bite ,err, correction: selectively bite

colors = wave / swell height as per the colored bar at he top of the images
arrows = wave / swell direction
color movement = storms crossing the ocean
of interest to LOS is the relativerly low wave/ swells behind the protection Sumatra.
the further north one goes on the Malay the larger the wave because of less protection provided by Sumatra.
note how the arrows indicating swell direction change to the east as the swells 'wrap around' Sumatra.

occasionally, the arrows / direction will be to the south in the Indian Ocean & thus push directly into the Andaman & down Mallaca Strait.

the rather large wave height in the northern Indian Ocean near Myanmar is relatively unusual.
Last week while the Cyclone was bearing down on Myanmar the colors in the Northern Indian Ocean were red with the arrows pointing to the east.

the bright red coming east out of the Atlantic & north from the antarctic represents significant storms

If I were interested in trains (outside of a mild interest the WWII Burma Rail) I would
I do enjoy people watching / scene observing / BiB monitoring at Hua Lamphong .. a station feeling station.

must be a cultural thing
I've yet to find any of the I must assume intended comedic posts humorous.. or even remotely witty or interesting

must be cultural humor / intellect.
where, may I dare ask, is such considered humor? or wit? or interesting?
done to get ones post count up?
or to bore off newbies?

resulting from alcohol induced dementia
.. or congenital deficiency / birth defect?

Some of the humour on Teakdoor tends to be a little on the dry or dark side and some of it is the laugh out loud variety. In real life, a lot of humour is of the situation kind but that is not really possible on an internet forum. Pictures and graphics, though, can be used to great effect. Some folk here will have a go at you just to measure the thickness of your skin or to provoke any reaction.

In fairness, your original post was a little heavy and, as such, could have done with a little, mmm, light twist somewhere.

Teakdoor has much to offer and you can get a lot out of it but, like most things in life, it takes a little practice.

the original post was in the coast line forum & was moved to the south forum
the blokes that reside in Hua Hin or Hat Yai (or even Phuket Town) would obviously have less interest.

was intended to provide info solely to those with a water sport interest on the west coast of the malay..

any person with an legit interest in water sport (prop, rod, fin or board) on the west coast of the malay (or south oz) will find that info interesting / useful

I am a person like may others that have intense interest in the ocean.
my home is on a rural coast .. i view salt water from my deck
storms are events to respect .. & be in awe of.

for many that reside in ranong, kamala or surin swells & ocean storms are an important part of day to day life .. & greatly effect recreation, sport, lively hood

the post & charts were directed at those that have an interest in the ocean .. & ocean sport.

i personally find the extended threads on digging mud pits in outer issan & / or omlette threads to be of little interest.
