    Hotel reccomendation in Samui

Everywhere will probably be full, should have booked ahead really. Sat for 3 hours in a queue in the car at the ferry port just before the useless fucks went from you can get on the 5pm ferry, to 7pm then to the old mai mee.

Sat in this shit tip called phua phua resort and boy it is poor, buts its near the ferry for tomorrow morn. Ive never seen mosquitoes so big and shes clapped about 8 of them now. Enough of the rant, anyone know any half decent hotels up to about 2,500 baht a night in Samui ?i will come out from the sheet a bit later to check.

    Cheers

    Drive down to Krabi instead.

Some relatives were asking me where to stay in Samui a couple of days ago (they had heard some good reports about a fisherman's village???); I talked them into going to Krabi instead. It's not too late to drive on down. How many hours from where you are? 5?
How do I post these pictures???

cost will vary on the type of room

we were there a few years ago and it was nice

One other place you might look into but you might want to put them on the bottom of the list.

^ also, S Landreth, as you know more about the nicer hotels than I do... (sorry to hijack Dill):

    1) The Mandarin Oriental for 4 people, I saw the price of 900 pounds for a suite or 300 pounds per room - do you know if they do any offers or cheaper prices, say for 3 days in Bkk around Auguest time.

    2) In Krabi, any suggested hotels? I've seen the Centara, any good? Maybe looking at around 5,000 - 10,000 baht per night. Family place, some nightlife/restaurants....?

Cant really give any first hand experience of fine hotels in Krabi, Betty i stayed at Simon 43s Fawlty Towers was clean and cheap though.
However I did hear of one really nice hotel down there, on Rallay beach i think it is and its only accessible by boat.forgot the name though

    Confused in Oman...

Samui pic tread Dillinger (the great thing about pic threads these days is that you don't actually have to add any pics!).

I have not stayed at the lake view but i have dined there and it fits your budget. It also has the advatage of being central without too much night noise.
Not much on the lake side (Ten minute walk to Soi Reggae) but if you walk out on the beach road side, turn left and you are about 200m from the action, bars, music, restaurants cafes etc.
The beach Rd side is almost opposite Tropical Murphys' for a decent pint of Guinness and the sports on TV.

I will be on Samui from 24 to 26 Dec if you fancy a pint.

Ive booked that place for 3 nights Chas, i aint had a bath for years then i have a couple of vouchers for the centara to large it like Mr landreth theres 3 centaras on there, one near the hotel you mentioned then one south and one south west, so might use the 2 latter to stay at to see the different parts of the island. Then ive been told the samui mermaid north east is pretty good, so may slum the last 2 nights there.
Give us a buzz when you land, always up for a pint

I've stayed at the Lake View many times over the years. The rooms are huge and clean and I can usually bully then down to about 1,200 per night. There is noise though, you have the Boxing loudspeakers driving past the front and back all day long and also the music from Tropical Murphy's across the road until closing time. Not a problem for me though.

I would definitely recommend it if you're not in need of a resorl and pool on the beach. For that I would recommend Golden Sand Resort in Lamai. About the same price with reasonable rooms, cheaper bungalows, with a nice pool and restaurant on the beach.

    Lang may yer lum reek...

Still, with parking at the rear and a Subway out front, it's pretty convenient.
