    Crocman in Samui with pics

A decision was made recently by the Dragon Lady and myself that since our offspring were progressing nicely in life that maybe we should cut back a little on the size of the inheritance that the little parasites were up for.As it worked out the figure we agreed on as a reduction matched exactly the amount a little adventure among the islands of southern Thailand would set us back.So we packed our bags and buried any feelings of guilt down the backyard beside the numerous puppies, kittens and goldfish that had gone to live on the farm.
First stop was Kirikayan Boutique Resort in Chaweng. It was a stylishly quirky place which proved to be comfortable and relaxing. We booked a Duplex Suite which had a large bed upstairs and a nice bathroom and living area downstairs. It also had a croc sized bath.

The gardener done a lovely job

The backyard in these camping grounds is none to shabby either.South Chaweng Beach

And the crocman even had a billabong to splash about in.

The main street was at our doorstep and it was only a short stroll to anywhere. If you were feeling a bit tired a tuk-tuk would take you up to the north end for about 100-200 baht depending on the time of day

One trip we made onboard this chariot was to Bophut Fishermans Village.A charming little place with a really nice vibe, there are some great little shops and hotels up and down the street and there is a top night market once a week

    Bophut pier

An old ironwood trader that now does day trips for the tourists.I'm told it weighs the same as a Boeing 747.Don't know why or how they worked that out but there you go.

    Shops

We both very much enjoyed Bophut and as it happened I ended diving with a crew called the Dive Academy who are set up in Bophut so I ended up spending a bit more time there than the Fire Breather did.She didn't mind too much as she spent her time back at the hotel getting her hair braided and a cut and polish to her scales.

    Crocman goes diving

Whilst out and about the back sois of Chaweng the Dragon Lady and I discovered a place that seemed warm and inviting but strangely sinister at the same time. After further investigation we discovered that the premises were used to house some sort of club where members would gather to discuss, promote or denigrate all things Thai.Dangerous buggers I'm told.

Another of our jaunts took us to Lamai.I wasn't overly impressed with this place as it seemed to be a little bit more down at the heel than the rest of the island.Maybe it was just me or maybe it was just the time of day we visited as I'm told it has a rather good nightlife. Not that old scaly would let me near it anyway.
    Lamai Beach

Back at the hotel the fire breather loves nothing better than drag me out of bed at all hours for a stroll along the beach to work up an appetite for breakfast. You could never accuse the woman of being deaf, she's never missed a dinner bell in her life.Still being up early does have its' upside.

There are some nice bars along the beach where Old Firey could enjoy a Mojito or 5
This one gets busy at night and has a good fire show

The Ark Bar is busy most of the time and is a good place to view the migrating wildlife

All in all Koh Samui is great place to be,especially if the kids future is funding it.We didn't spend much time doing the real touristy stuff like the Big Budhha, the Wats or grandfather rock as we just wanted to relax a bit,do some shopping and some diving and generally save our energy for the next leg of the Inheritance Tour of Southern Thailand.Phuket, the island of Mams and Scams,is next and we are joining some Kiwi friends there to introduce them to their first taste of Asia.Poor bastards.
Off to the airport,IMHO the prettiest in the world

    See you soon.
