    Hua Hin (or south) hotel/resort?

I'm looking for a hotel or resort, hopefully by a beach, close to Hua Hin. 2 rooms or 2 bungalows for 4 people. I'm thinking perhaps around Sam Roi Yot. Though is there a nice beach closer to Hua Hin? Without actually being in the town.

Budget I suppose would be 2-3k per night per room/bungalow, but cheaper is of course better.

The Hua Hin page here is helpful,

    TeakDoor.com - The Thailand Forum Hua-Hin-Hotels-Guesthouses-Beaches

    but any personal recommendations?

    Cheers.

We've stayed at both the Banlansuan and Baan Pantai in Chan Am (15-20min drive to central HH) in the past when the seasonal rate in HH gets too high.
Both are on the beach road -check them out on Tripadvisor.

    Cheers.

Most of those are a bit lower then what's wanted, but will show them the Hua Hin Avenue, as it's got a pool, which is a necessity. cheers.

My friend came and stayed at Regent Beach, South Cha Am, which was nice. I think he paid 4000 baht a night

I remember paying 900 baht for 5 cans of Leo or Singha by the pool though

Thipurai City Hotel off Soi 61 City Center in Hua Hin. I've stayed there twice and it's very nice, a short walk to the beach and close to what little nightlife Hua Hin has. About $40 usd a night through Agoda.

Almost forgot a few suggestion if you choose to stay at DolphinBay:
There is a possibility to arrange boat trips to the Islands around ( Monkey Island or night fishing etc.), prices are reasonable, if I recall i paid 400 bath for a couple of hours for 4 adults, 2 teens , 3 kids.
I also take some daytrips around: Prachuaab, Ao Manoa (nice food stalls/sea food, cheap prices - is on a base), for cheap shopping there is a marked by the border to Burma called Dan Singkhon ( goods aat 1/3 of the Hua Hin prices) or if into waterfalls Namtok Huai Yang..
Last. if you need a good driver I can suggest a Lady driver from Hua Hin named "Noi" the phonenr. should be 0837840084 ( unless she has changed it )- better then any testeronefilled male driver, never felt saver on a Thai road then with her, and cheap reliable ( but you will need to speak Thai to negotiate with her).
Last, no.. I wont get a discount or any commission for suggestions.. What ever you do have a nice trip

There are quite a few resorts between Cha am and Hua Hin. Regent as was mentioned, Marriott, Dusit Thani. Sheraton. I have gone and looked at all of them to just see quality and the lay out. All very large, typical beach resort type deal. Huge pools, all amenities, geared at foreigners. Off the beaten path is Cher Resort. Very nice place, quiet. right on beach. These all can be had anywhere between 2500 to 4000 baht a night depending on what days you stay of course. All offer rides to Hua hin for the night if they will not have their own means of transpo. Personally I would not stay anywhere in Hua Hin, but that's me

A few years ago I stayed at one of the big luxury resort (Sheraton??) in Hua Hin. It was nice but waay too expensive. Had to put my Thai BIL and his family up as well. I know this is not much help, but I am bored.

There are many luxury hotels and resorts close to Hua Hin. You can stay in any one of them according to your comfort and budget. You can also book any one of them through net.
