    Koh Samui

My wife and I will be spending one or two weeks on Koh Samui around the first of 2013.

We are not drinkers/partiers, but like to snorkle a bit and hit up a few temples and other attractions.

Any ideas as the best place to stay (moderately priced, no short time girls, etc).

Also, best place to rent a motor bike without getting scammed.

    Thanks.

anywhere that rents, just dont fall off it, samui roads are pretty dangerous, and take pictures of the bike before you leave the place you are renting from, make sure they see you do it

cant help much with the hotels, havent been down there for a while, but bohphut is nice, not as busy as chaweng, also lamai could be an option. enjoy, you have lots of time to plan, google is your friend

Thanks for all the good info. That's what makes this such a good forum. I'll spend some more time reviewing the information, and will probably book something in a couple of months.

    Cheers.

Depends upon how my current job goes (I'm doing some consulting for a Japanese Medical Company - Terumo).

Pay is great but I don't know how long they'll keep me on.

The Lodge Hotel in Bophut is great value and has the best spot on the beach. The housekeeper/manager Goh will ensure you get a reasonable hire without fear of being scammed. Read Tripadvisor for reviews and photos. Average cost is 1,600 to 1,800 - they only have 10 rooms or so and do get booked up rapidly. The penthouse rooms are much sought after and worth the premium. Most clients are repeat visitors.

Thanks guys. I don't like to jump in to these Samui threads and beat my own drum, but after a couple a couple of referrals to my place, I thought I should respond.

Our resort is indeed in the quieter south east section of the island and close to a couple of reasonable snorkeling beaches,( depending on the weather ).
Or I can arrange one of the trips out to the marine park, for snorkeling and kayaking.

We are only 5 minutes by bike into Lamai Beach for restaurants and massages, and close to the waterfalls and other attractions that are on the island.

Moderately priced, and yes, I can get you a motorbike without you being scammed.
