My local got raided on Monday night - all happy hour signs had to be taken down. The beer is still cheap from 3 to 5.30 but it can't be advertised. They got done 15k for no music license the week before.

I was in Chalong a couple of weeks ago - bladdy expensive little trip - could've done with a happy hour then.

Never heard that before about Happy Hour, who made them take down the signs?

I would think it's upto the owner of the bar as to what prices they sell their beer?

They had a swoop on all the bars in Rawai and Nai harn a few months ago over the music licenses 20,000 the islander had to pay but 50,000 is what they want at first

They were local authority people. He also had to get rid of all beer mats, tissue holders, stubbie holders, etc which advertised beer, even the price list on the wall!

Twenty years ago in Kata my mate tried a Happy Hour / Spin the Wheel but plod made him stop it - gambling was the reason I think. At the time I remember other bar owners being disgruntled over the fact that his bar was popular and there was an unwritten agreement that all bars charged the same.
