    Vehicle accident at Chalong circle

Had to go to Chalong from Rawai today, the traffic was backed up on all the roads approaching chalong circle, when we eventually got to the circle a bus and another vehicle had been involved in a accident and were left blocking the roads
There is a police station about 50 metres from chalong circle and if you have a accident even a minor one with no one injured you cannot shift the vehicles until the police and/or insurance companies attend the accident
The traffic jam lasted about 1 hour
In Australia if you have a accident and the vehicles can be shifted you will be charged with obstructing traffic if you do not move them
Same thing happens all over Thailand and is a major cause of traffic jams, when are the authorities going to wake up and realize this

Traffic accidents are a potential crime scenes and evidence cannot be touched until the Police have documented the cause

Much depends if there are personal injuries or allegations of dangerous driving (commonplace in Thailand one would have thought). Marking the road/distance measuring, takes only a few minutes, statements from witness's/complainants can wait.

The insurance companies should obtain their evidence from police reports/sketch, there should be no requirement to wait until their arrival before moving the vehicles, but hey, this is Thailand where the police cannot be wholly trusted, especially if one of the drivers is a friend/relative/VIP.

Accidents at chalong circle daily with people who do not know how to use a roundabout and do not know the road rules or how to drive and its only going to get worse, and its not only Thai people who drive badly

I hope you never go to the UK NK if you think that's bad, , anyone with major trauma in a UK accident, such as a broken toenail or an eyelash gone in they're eye will result in a minimum of a weeks closure,, with untold amounts of police being paid round the clock to guard the scene., and compare notes about what takeaway they had last night
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Most of the time no one is injured in these minor accidents if they were it is a different matter the same as other countries

Not likely, be wary of all other drivers and treat them as unqualified to drive which the which most are and not only Thais
One accident in 8 years and i was rammed in the rear by a 15 year old unlicensed rider on a unlicensed bike talking on his phone who wanted to flee the scene

I have not run into any motor bike or trucks in the last 7 years traveled 450,000 klm in my truck, 60,000 on my Wave, 40,000klm on my Yamaha SRX6.

I came to Thailand 2002 & have driven he M/C & pickup from day one.
To get any where in Bangkok you have to drive quick & weave left & right to go with the flow.
If you don't then it will take you 3 times as long to get any where.

I do not know if you are a good driver or a lucky driver Sue
Its the people who weave and speed while driving who cause most of the accidents Which injure and kill other people usually not themselves
