Seems he was in constant pain. Maybe he decided simply to leave rather then spend all his families money on treatment to prolong his life a little bit longer.

We all have to go sometime but it seems we view suicide as an act of the weak when it may well be an act of the strong and confident.

    RIP Peter.

Suicide is normally associated with extreme mental trauma not physical pain.

Jesus christ that's a shocker huh.

I can never understand why Humans should be made to suffer intolerable pain when there are so many pain killing drugs available.

It's senseless and unnecessary, give people the choice of the drugs or assisted death.

No one should ever have to go out like this.

    RIP

At least he checked out on his own terms. Hanging seems a bit primitive. Surely bleeding out is more civilised if you don't want to go the drug route?

I used to chat with this fella about 7 or 8 years ago on TV, loved his food and his Rottweilers, came across as a real nice man.

    RIP.

Perhaps it's me but I think that there are 2 death notices in the OP. One recent concerning a British guy who hung himself recently and a second at the bottom of the post relating to a German guy who died a while ago in Germany of diabetes, and was involved in TV and the food business.

Both it seemed were well liked

I didn't know either but RIP to them both

    Sorry bout that.

The first link is to the news article about Peter, who hung himself a day or two ago.

Then I commented that I was losing my friends, and posted the link about the passing a coupkle of years ago of Gerd, a German guy who used to be the boss of the airport kitchens. He was the guy with the Rottweilers, a perfect gentleman, and top-notch chef. He died of diabetes, which I suppose is a risk when you cook (and eat) mout-watering chocolate cakes etc etc.
