I have skin cancer. Where can I buy Fluorouracil in Phuket?

    Hey all.

I have a history of skin cancer, all of which I previously had treated back home.

I am searching for a Pharmacy that sells Fluorouracil cream here in Phuket.

There are many brands for this drug. For example:

    Carac
    Fluoroplex
    Effidix

I have already tried the Pharmacy in the big Super Cheap in the middle of the Island. I have also tried Boots and Watsons in Patong. All three were a NO HAB...

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Cheers

    GT

If you have a spot with a visible problem, go see a specialist. Once it will progress it will be more difficult to cut it out.

I had two such cases on ear and nose I had not much cared of for a longer time. Luckily, it was always perfectly removed (had to be repeated as it was quite deep). Afterwards, daily redressing for one week and there is no scarf visible.

All this in Thai provincial hospital.

Have you tried all the hospitals? They should tell you for sure if it's available in Thailand. A hospital will sell you creams, same as a pharmacy.

There is more than likely a well stocked drug store in the vicinity of the largest/oldest hospital on Phuket. Probably in Phuket Town. Just like there is outside say Chula University Hospital here in Bangkok. It is important to have on you pictures of what you want.

Not all prescription medicines are available legally OTC in pharmacies here - for good reasons.
Codeine based ones spring to mind, as well as those with potentially damaging side effects if not prescribed and managed by a specialist.
Ring Phuket International, make an appointment directly with a dermatologist or oncologist, get a script and get it filled by the hospital pharmacy which carry stuff Boots etc do not have.

Anybody can read up on the internet - it doesn't substitute for 10 years that it takes to reach Consultant status.
Cancers mutate - how do you know "it is the same as before"?

Went to Phuket International today. The Pharmacy staff were happy to deal with me directly. However, they do not stock Fluorouracil. The dermatologist wasn't in today. I will be heading back on Monday. More detail in my other thread in the Lounge.
