I am taking the bike for a serious ride. So I was curious what people say their favorites are as I make it around.

Just ignore the sarcasm barrylad, the wretch can't help it.
Hair of the dog or drink plenty of water. Commiserations.
Karon beach is a nice sight.
Like any beach away from Patong!
Some nice ones up by the airport.
Also only go to the beach out of tourist season, or before thje mongers drag their arse down.
Patong used to be nice but must admit I was walking on it at 6am heading back to my place pissed as a kunt.
Oh the memories or not....
Go up the west coast highway through Ranong and back down the main highway to Surat Thani, takes 3 or 4 days if you get off the main road and have a good look around
Kata Noi. Not a busy beach as you have to enter through a large resort. Safe beach with a rideable wave in the off season and has a shack that dishes up a feed and a cold one if you desire.
my photos are all 4-5yrs old, since we left Phuket - and I wonder now if the quiet beaches we used to go to are covered in deck chairs
A favourite getaway was to Nai Yang beach on west coast near airport, beach and small national park there
_______
Nai Harn - though in 2009 it did suffer from deckchair-itis and was best early morning
____
I think this is the main Kata beach, complete with those ever-popular jetski rental blokes
not a beach, but plenty of water - near Kathu, Bang Wad dam, near Phuket Country Golf Club
Road around the lake, 6.5km good cycling/running as mostly sheltered by trees
One of the international schools used to hold a fundraising fun-run around the lake each year
Nai Harn beach
Nai Harn again - if you're a swimmer/snorkeler, head out to that island, easy from Yanui Beach (one over the hill with the wind turbine, south from NH), or rent a kayak on a calm day
Nai Harn beach was one of the best beaches, now the beach chairs are 7 rows deep just before the drain on the south end and past the drain a restaurant has been built on public land that blocks access to the beach unless you climb over rocks
Come on low season, might have beach access again
north end of Layan Beach, also the beaches with no name if u drive the back roads to Nai Yung beach that u need park a walk down to
Worst beach SURIN< chairs 4 deep, most expensive beach food on the island and the most open air beach clubs ( illegally) on a beach.
Bang Wat dam QSI holds a fun run there in the fall every year
For me as stated Kata Noi, Kata and Karon. Not as much Karon as there is not enough shade and it has a bad rip tide. But photographed from the right place at the right time you get as nice a beach shot as anywhere in the world.
