YA , No need to understand who was paying his bills! Just read that the judicial inquiry into National Park land encroachment has been canned! Corruption has to have its way. No mention of the Russian and Chinese package invasion! I think parts of Phuket are incredible but it is way beyond the pale.

Succulent monkfish ? What's the Thai word for Monkfish? Would love to be able to order it as I have an irrational fear of bones.

Love the discrepancy between the lovesick article and the down to earth comments.

The author must feel pretty foolish.

I am a chef and I have never come across monkfish here.It would have to be imported if I did.Mindyou I think that knob Ramsey has put his name to the restaurant at Panwa Hotel so probably has it shipped in so all the hi so knobs can eat it.

^ Ramsey certainly is rude, but I think the hotels hire him because they are in financial trouble. I'd run him off if he talked to me that way. But, I guess some people need it. At least, he gets them making money again or that's what is appears.

And there I was just yesterday reading an article in a British newspaper warning tourists not to engage in the miserable elephant trade here. But that's the Torygraph for ya. And no, there's no Monkfish here. Was probably the ubiquitous Pla Krapong.

Still plenty of backpackers here in season also no shortage of genuine tourists in the higher end resorts all year round
Not many new expats because they were coming from countries whose economies are going down the drain
Not so many sexpats it must be getting to expensive for them so they are going to Laos and Cambodia

Cant see why a Backpacker would bother going to Phuket, there's nothing there for a Backpacker.
