Phuket BBQ Buffet Every Monday 495baht

I was never really one for buffets, cold food left on big tables waiting for somebody to prod it about a bit and maybe take some to eat, maybe just cut it up and decide not to eat it, but things on the buffet front have got better over the years, food is kept warm, much of it is cooked on demand, and sometimes the choice and quality is really good, also now being a non smoker I soon might be able to taste it and even eat large amounts of food to justify the expense of some of these buffets

So onto the 2 chefs at Kata Beach, every Monday they hold a BBQ and Surf night with such things on offer as Australian rib eye steaks, salmon burgers, chicken fajitas, tacos pumpkin salad and apple crumbled pie, that Aussie rib eye aint cheap, the price for this buffet is 495baht, the place even has its own live band which plays on Mondays so that should liven things up.

Only Surf food I can find listed is the Blackened Red Snapper, can't imagine salmon burgers count as surf food, anyway it's rib eye for me, lots of it please.

Anyway, if anybody is down that way get a seat at the restaurant, try the BBQ, take some photos and post it on our Phuket Forum.

PS, they have 3 restaurants, this event is held at the Kata Beach Restaurant which can seat 130 people.

My personal favourite is Dons BBQ on Nanai Rd.

199bht gets you Thai food selection and BBQ ribs, kebabs, pork chops and sausages. Salad, veggies and French Fries top off the bill with a small dessert section. Saturday and Sunday from 6pm...... Warning...it does get packed and if you leave it until 8 you will normally have to queue. Beers are a normal 60 bht a bottle across the board part from imports. Will add photos later.

Dons BBQ looks like a good deal, then again any BBQ meat always looks good not sure about the chips / French fries being left in a tray, would soon lose any crispness and become a bit soggy, still, who wants chips when there is ribs and chops on the BBQ

to be honest the chips never seem to last long.... the cook out the back is kept on her toes bringing out fresh trays all evening and Don will always order a fresh lot to be cooked if he sees them running low or getting cold.

Best value for money on Phuket I reckon. Its not a posh establishment by a far mile but they are honest, hard working and popular.

Oh.... and you are not restricted to one visit to the grill. Go back as often as you wish.

Wrong Don.... this Don is Thai, was at the Kangaroo Bar until 2009 and is on Nanai Rd, Patong.

The pics were taken last evening.

Plenty of restaurants buy there meat from Makro and its Thai meat they buy and tenderise it
In Australia you get yearling beef in the shops for grilling and barbecuing
and the cuts of Australian meat at makro are to big to be yearling beef they come from old mature cows and are probably as tough as Thai meat
