Phuket SeaFood Festival 2012 24-26 August

Breaking the normal thai trend of telling people about upcoming events after the actual event TeakDoor has gone against the grain and is posting about this one before it happens, because I like seafood

The Phuket Seafood Festival is this weekend 24th to 26th of August, involves around 60 restaurants and food shops in Jungceylon Shopping Plaza, they will be offering all tourists a large variety and selection of their seafood signature dishes.

Sounds pretty good to me, TAT wrote about 5 words on it on their website, yes, they are promoting it supposedly and those 5 words seem to be it, the Jungceylon Shopping Plaza managed nearly 30 words of blurb on their website so they deserve some respect for that effort, what is the matter with these people?

Anyway if your down that way it's probably worth going, we have some here sometimes in Pattaya, it's so rare to actually here about them before they happen though, used to do a yearly one on Beach Road North Pattaya, great food, bargain price, but now it's only mentioned in the news after the event, so haven't been for years

If you go take some photos and post them here

    Thanks for that info DD!

I will be arriving back in Phuket Friday morning , was hoping to catch the latest Batman flick at Jungceylon , (if its still playing) .

This looks to be another good reason to brave Patong this weekend ...

    Chalong Food and Entertainment Festival

Chalong Mayor gets cooking at Phuket food, entertainment festival

PHUKET: The first annual “Chalong Food and Entertainment Festival” kicked off in Phuket last night, and will continue to offer a wide variety of food and beverage options, as well as staged entertainment through to Monday night.

The five-day event is open from 4pm to midnight in the field opposite Wat Ladthi Wanaram (“Wat Tai”), on Chao Fa East Road in Chalong.

Phuket MP Raywat Areerob presided over the opening ceremony, which included a competition to create the best dish of phad khaw khua phuket (Phuket fried roasted rice).

Mayor Samran, who knows his way around a wok, also fried up a huge serving of Hokkien noodles, which were then shared with fellow Thai cooks from Chalong.

Tonight’s entertainment will include the opening round of the “Chalong Got Talent” [sic] competition, while tomorrow will see the start of the “New G bloods we’re just say no” [sic], described as an international singing contest aimed at keeping kids off drugs.

Eighty food vendors have set up stalls at the event, which is intended to promote local food and hygiene standards.
