Cheap Flight From Uk To Manilla

While browsing Skyscanner i noticed a cheaper way for some of my fellow Brits to fly to the Philippines.
You can fly from most airports in the UK to Kuala Lumpur for 330 and then catch an Air Asia flight to Manilla for 60. Thats 390 as opposed to flying straight from the UK To Manilla which would cost about 500
It also lets you explore KL if you so wish for a few days

Not bad - would you still need to change terminals from the main airport to the cheapo one round the corner? Make sure you factor that in if you do as last time I was in the KLIA2 there as even less to do there than in KLIA. It's only 3 minutes to get there, so don't rush out of KLIA until you need to

I have looked at this before not as a means to get to Manila, but Cebu.

for a few years up to about 2006 when they axed it, Malaysian had a direct Manchester-KL flight, they are a pretty classy airline and prices were keen too.

I did go via KL also when Air Asia still flew there from Stansted, I got a return in about 2010 for 270. Awful flight though.

the dates I travel out to the Philippines each year last week in October and returning last week in February I have not found anyone flying to KL even as cheap as about 450, never mind 330. But then I need to fly out of Manchester not London which is usually at least 50 more expensive than Heathrow which usually seems the cheapest.

good deals are out there. Last year I got a codeshare from Manchester to Manila with Air France and China Southern changing at Paris and Guangzhou for 384.

now Emirates have introduced a direct Dubai-Cebu flight, a Manchester-Cebu flight is coming in at around 550, the chances are I will end up going that way. Basically anything under 500 is a good price and anyhing under 400 is a total steal.

budget airlines like Air Asia are OK for short hops but definitely not OK for long-haul.

budget airlines don't come up on Skyscanner but you could probably save some money by flying Emirates to Dubai and then Cebu Pacific on to Manila. However I just wouldn't want to take a budget airline flight as long as that.
