Set up a small security company in Manila 14 years ago when I retired. Over the years, we've done just about every possible type of security. Currently, the bulk of our work is in the field of Intellectual Property Rights, mostly for European makers of luxury items. There is a huge copyright problem here with counterfeit items flooding the market (worse than Thailand). Nobody does this but us, and we've been doing it a long time. Multinationals pay well.
You go after the distribution networks ? As I understand, the stuff that is scattered all over Asia is made in China

^ 99% is made in China. A fraction of very high end stuff comes in from Korea. We go after local shipments once they arrive, seizing and ultimately destroying. Info gleaned from seizures and raids on warehouses and storerooms is passed back to the client, who passes it on to their people who work China for follow-up.

^From what I've seen, there are counterfeit goods all over SEA. Go to any Chinatown and you'll see loads of pirated goods. Sometimes you don't need to go to Chinatown since they're all over the streets...

In which line of work ?

100k isn't what it used to be but it all depends on what you are doing.

A lawyer with 15 years experience or an English teacher ?

I did a 2 month consultancy gig in Manila. I was put up in Valley Verde, Pasig, so not a cheap area, but found it way more expensive than Bangkok.

Beer is cheap though. Pilsner is nice, and they have Red Horse, the cheaper, stronger, headache inducing brand. Kind of a PI version of Beer Chang, only stronger.
