Yes. And DHL exported them to Manila. We paid the import duty. Customs squeezed us a bit but they got there in the end.

What's so dodgy about this setup? apart from voiding the warranty, all else is fine. Dell suck to deal with anyway.

I'm going there to set up a sports betting and online poker operation. It's kind of a consultancy role. You'll have a huge problem with this no doubt. Go whinge to the PH government.

I was wondering what happened ! And I can verify it was in fact as dodgy as fuk !

The beggars looked more desperate than the ones I saw in India. Those ones were merely dirt-poor.

From 90-92, I was living the dream. Work was 5 minutes from the strip one direction, home was 5 minutes from the strip the other direction. From work, I had to drive down the strip to get home. Took me a lot longer than 10 minutes to get home most nights..............

Just say NO Papillion. (Then reset the registry)

I have never been to Flippoland, but I currently work with lots of Flippos; not keen on them at all. They are even more sceaming and superficial than the Thais, imho. Previously, I wanted to visit the place, now I'm not so sure... though it would be nice to see Davis' gun collection (no Papillion, it's not a euphemism, calm down...).

Jesus christ, after fucking about on agoda and asia rooms most of the weekend it seems its a bit hard to take my own advice, ive had to settle for a hotel in Malate instead of Makati, just couldnt find a decent gaff that accepts kids as well, Malates a bit rugged as well but it just the 1 night and the wife wants to see intramuros and do a bit of shopping, Thats all pretty close. Next ive got to find a hotel in Angeles thats family friendly? You shouldnt have any dramas 9999 just find a place close to the action.

Strange. It was the first bar I ever entered in Manila - many, many years ago. It was early afternoon, and I was, as I later found out, just starting a malaria relapse. I got chatting with the young lady behind the bar - drinking beer and getting sicker by the minute. She got off about an hour later, helped me back to the hotel, and stayed with me for three days. When I recovered, she would only take money to pay the bar for her missed days. I flew out the next day, recovered more or less and with a good first impression of the people.

^Since I had spent virtually nothing, I tried to give her $200 at the airport (a fortune in the Philippine in those days); she wouldn't take it. As I cleared security, I stuffed $100 in her pocket and split before she could give it back. The YBR was a dark and dingy bar, but she was a godsend getting me through a rough couple of days. I went back to YBR years later, just to see if she was still around, but she had moved on.....

No more. Casinos all over the place. Some of them are really nice - and huge. Just another way to separate people from their money. North Asians comprise the vast majority of the customer base.

You must have an amazing memory, Davis. Or, something very memorable happened there that day - come on, spill the beans.

Not really. Still remember the first bar I ever set foot in in BKK, 40 years ago - Grand Prix, PatPong 1. Welcome back!

Ah....1987....the Twin Pussy bars in Patpong. I also have pleasant memories of the Pink Panther, mostly sitting outside at that little bar watching the world go by. And I sometimes wonder what happened to a certain hostess there..lovely girl. It was platonic only...I just couldn't bring myself to do anything, with the AIDS scare, and misinformation at it's height.
