The Best French Restaurant in Pattaya

I don't normally go to these high end places, means sorting through all the Singha beer vests and stuff to actually find some suitable clothes, ie not shorts, flip flops and a vest, plus my last experience at a French restaurant involved me making a mistake on my order and ordering that raw mince meat dish with a raw egg on top, they really weren't impressed when I asked them to cook it for me.

Anyway this La Notte is on Pattaya Walking Street down near the Bali Hai Port end, so if your driving thats the best place to park.

The inside is really nicely done out, it's a pub and restaurant, the kitchen is open view so you can watch them cooking if you wanted to.

Now this is a wine glass, you can see how massive it is by the bottle of beer next to it, we got a carafe of the house wine which was quite good.
Also all the cutlery was damn good, the forks must have weighed like quarter of a kilo each, real high quality stuff that I doubt was bought in Pattaya.

Prices for main courses started at 320baht, they also got imported New Zealand lamb, when you get there they give you a chilled glass of sliced vegetables which comes with a nice dip, also the main course comes with bread, so neither of us got anywhere near finishing everything.

I had the pork with mustard sauce, the photos really don't show how big the plates are, but the pork and sauce was really good.

The steak with the cheese sauce, now that sauce was really good, I finished that using the bread to mop out the last bits.

All in all probably one of the best restaurants I have been to in Pattaya, service wise, decor wise and food wise, anyway back to burgers next week

I reckon they could've made a bit more of an effort on the veges, and the steak- while no doubt nice- is a bit measly. Walking St, I suppose. A place that always gets a knockout review, which I've yet to make, is that Swiss restaurant in soi diamond.

The photos don't do the plate sizes justice, he left quarter of the steak, I left about 1/4 of my potatoes, I didn't eat the vegetables as I had had enough from when we first got there.

^ I ate there once - liked the place, but the cooking really was not up to scratch - salted into almost inedibility. never went back.

looks like real food, that DD enjoyed, enough said. I guess they were using American plates, the things are double the size of anything you can by here, thats good by the way.

The plates seem well full of well cooked food. Better than fancy shit at triple the price. Funny as hell it is on walking st. Must be a shit load of hungry and horny frogs.

Try not to look too much like coming from Walking St, and you'll get a real service; Know a little about good cuisine, and you'll get it too!

Surprisingly good for the price, even if it's not yet high end french cuisine!!!

I wouldn't recommend eating French food in Pattaya or even Bangkok for that matter, they are overpriced and poor quality

of course if you are British or American, you won't feel the difference

    better German restaurant here,

There is a few really good restaurants, serving french cuisine in BKK... But on the other side, you may be right, the overpriced ones (or "famous" ones) are far from the best!!!

    Forget it

Forget it, the only best French restaurant is CAFE DES AMIS on THAPPRAYA, owned by ex Asiarooms owner who drive a Ferrari at Pattaya.

Wow it must be good then, Ferrari!

DD's review, although I don't agree with the 'high end' labeling shows a decent meal, well cooked at a decent price.

How about the guys knocking it actually take some time out to do their own picture reviews for us to see...

Realistic prices, certainly given the location. DD reckons the sauces kicked ass, the veg looked a wee bit pedestrian to me- then again, they do serve you crudite' when you get there, which wins a brownie point. Great way to start a meal.

Now, when you open up with "the best French (or whatever) restaurant in ****" on Td, you can always expect a bit of comeback.

Chef Bernard in the middle of soi 3 ( or 4, not sure ) was not bad either. More affordable prices and their fish soup is to die for.. I am curious are they still open?

Agree with this recommendation, Bernard's food is authentic and of a high quality, this is one restaurant that has no need of advertising , his customers do it for him.

If you're looking for volume, then 'that Swiss place' on Soi Diamond won't be your choice to return to.

While the food is well-prepared, and the different ingredients complement each other very well, the portions are not large.

I enjoy it, a lot of other 'oldies' enjoy it, but if you're looking for a padding to soak up the night's beer consumption, this won't hack it.
