Not sure what Route CC are charging for their burgers these days, but for the 120bht or so I recall, they were an absolute bargain. Nice big patty and tasty. Frankly I reckon the bloke would make more money reinventing the place as a burger n grill restaurant, rather than a short time bar that happens to do a very good burger.

Bobs BBQ is decent, but a load more expensive. An Amerkin friend who is well into his burgers swore by the burger at Shenanigans, but they are at least 300bht.

Surprisingly good burger in Ubon too, at the Wrong Way cafe. 225 bht gets you two patties on sourdough bread w bacon, cheese & decent chips. But not many make it to Ubon.

Bob's BBQ has a new owner since Bob fucked off back to Texas after realizing you can only get so many people willing to pay $10 for a burger that would cost $6 back home

I hope the door did not hit him in his fat ass on the way back to USA

Best hamburger I've had in Pattaya was at the Hard Rock Cafe BUT, from memory, with a price of aprox Tb500 with all the ++'s (then a drink that is way overpriced) it must be the most expensive in Thailand.

ChokChai Farm hamburgers, with the works, up on route 2 between Sarburi and Korat are better and only Tb350 nett. BUT... long way to travel for a good hamburger!!

The name "hamburger" is a reference to the city of Hamburg. It literally means person (or product) from Hamburg -- same as New Yorker means a person from New York.

The ingredient-burger (e.g. chickenburger, cheeseburger) pattern for naming sandwiches was derived from the word hamburger, not the other way around. Apart from modern usage derived from hamburger, the word burger roughly means "citizen", not "sandwich".

Everyone knows they're made from beef, and the name does not imply they're made from ham. Should we expect hot dogs to be made from dog meat and buffalo wings to have once been attached to the proverbial sick water buffalo?

You're right, dog meat is probably not the main ingredient in most hot dogs.

MD, taking a look at the Bookhouse menu, it's saying that there burgers are made with prime beef. I wonder. I would be surprised if that's the case. Or , maybe there idea of what prime beef and what I know to be prime beef are two different things. Also, the best burgers are cooked on a grill not a griddle. It's true that the Waffle House in the States cook there burgers on a griddle. I don't know how many times I've gone in one, at about a 45 degree angle and 4:00 in the morning, after a lively night out, and order a Double Quarter Cheese Plate Scattered And Smothered. All you real Rednecks out there know what I'm talking about. But as good as the greasy thing is, it can't compare to a burger that's been cooked on a grill top. Anybody that knows anything about cooking Hamburgers knows that.

    ChokChai burgers are a steal.
I ate a couple at the main branch on the way to Khoa Yai and paid a bit over 100 baht each.

Here's a handy menu for guys that live within their delivery radius.

Actually the original hamburger meat loaf as we still make it is made of half beef half pork.

"Burger" does not mean citizen, that would be "Bürger". "Burg" means castel.

It's a cheese burger made with 2 Quarter lb. beef patties with lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle on the side, It's served with hash brown potatoes that you can get scattered and smothered. That means that onions are mixed in with the hash browns as they are cooked on the griddle. You can also order them scattered, smothered and covered, where they add a slice of cheese on the top of the hash browns

Yes, Scrotum Cheese, mention frequently on Teak Door, must be a delicacy best spread thinly on DD's burger.

I made the mistake of buying a pack of the frozen burgers at Makro- nothing but fat, gristle, and bone (though the dogs quite enjoyed them).

So next stop on the quest for the perfect burger in Pattaya was The Cable Grill, can't miss these places and will find them at the entrances to many of the shopping malls in Pattaya and Jomtien, this one is on the corner of Jomtien Beach Road, they all look the same.

It has a small outside seating area on a raised wooden deck.

There is a 2 page menu for set meals plus also a menu for seperates, burger with fries and a large coke was 129baht I think, they also list sausages, hotdogs and other stuff so quite a nice selection of choices.

I had the chicken burger, fries and coke, 119baht I think, pretty nice burger of a good size with a light coating of batter, only suprise it didn't come with any onion, maybe he forgot or something, still, pretty good value for money and better than the frozen crap from the large supermarkets.
