Yeah, I use em if necessary whereever I am in Asia, sometimes you have no choice. Always seem to have a "thrilling" ride, but hey, I'm still alive, luckily. I've been on 2 motorbike taxi's that have crashed, and had many more near misses which is why if possible I try and rent my own bike/scooter. BTW, pay the moto taxi and GTFO of there sharpish if you're on one that crashes.
only occasionally and when the circumstances require.
Only when i have to (not very often) as there are no car taxis here.
Never, ever, ever, EVER, EVERRRRR!!!
Has anyone here tried sitting like that on the back of a motorbike? It's fucking impossible.
^ - My tod is too big. but JFC, thats not your normal run of the mill yaba'd out taxi driver.
When in Bangers use them regularly. Most efficient transport between your destination and the nearest BTS/MRT station.
Take them if too bent to drive my own.
Used to take them in Bangkok frequently. Less now that there are metered, new, clean, aircon taxis at every turn - pretty much. Never had a bad experience on them, just not the same need to use them now as there used to be.
Do the same if no heavy traffic. A 35 - 40 baht ride in taxi much better. Taxi in heavy traffic can turn a 10 minute trip into a 1 hour trip. Motorbike much preferred.Originally Posted by Davis Knowlton
Through BKK it's the only way to travel, and the traffic tends to keep them slow.
Outside BKK I wouldn't dream of it.
Every day to the end of the soi (to grab a taxi); a quiet mooban, but some of the taxi guys/gals are...
I've stopped attempting to fight with the herds of buffalo on the roads, and given the motor to the missus...
