Did you know they have to pay the police 100baht perday or 3,000baht per month, got to admit that suprised me, the cowboy probably does real good and it would be best if police sorted out the crowds round him, but they don't, another good one is the kid footballer, pretty sure he will make the thai team, still find it amazing the police are able to extort money from whomever they like though.

The Thai Tourism Dept should step in and stop this extortion, better still, nurture and
sponsor it.
There is an annual street theatre event in BKK (in November from memory) in Lumpini Park that draws huge crowds.

Quality, non tit and feathers, street theatre is another dimension to making a destination more fun and appealing.
The cowboy is great but I like the Turk who wears the Fez who does the ice cream tricks the best!

There is a whole cowboy and indian subculture in Thailand. I know a Thai lawyer who appears to be a quite normal and intelligent fellow but on weekends he loves to play dress up in weird hybrid of Buffalo Bill Coty and Chief Dan George. Just go to Chatuchak - there a several shops catering to these tastes.
