    Pattaya 2011

As I go into Pattaya once or twice per-week I thought I would take some photos each time, so first off is Pattaya Beach.

Many years ago Pattaya Beach was a beautiful and pristine beach with clear blue waters, obviously I can't vouch for that as it was before my time and the people that claimed it was have all probably died of old age.

Pattaya Bay taken from up on Buddha Mountain, looks pretty good from far away.

If you want to see a nice beach this is Bali Hai Pier, from here you can get the ferry to Koh Larn, now that island is nice.

Nice photos. It's truly a shame that it doesn't look as grand close-up.

    Jomtien 2nd Road

They started building the 2nd road in Jomtien many years ago, this is to join onto the new super wide Thappraya Road which still isn't finished and they also started many years ago, so first up is what maybe the end of Jomtien 2nd Road which connects to Soi Chaiyapruek 2.

As you can see it's nearly there and has been nearly there for months and I can't actually remember the last time I saw someone working on the road, such is Thailand.

The concrete blocks make it a tad dangerous if your heading South at night, this is due to no street lighting nor warning signs, but don't let those little things put you off hiring a superbike whilst on your 2 week Pattaya vacation.

A lot of the pavements have been finished, looking at them it seems they were finished quite a while ago.

But they are a tad dangerous for your average jogger or tourist, with holes that could house a family of 4 Thais it's best not to use the sidewalk for jogging.

Although if your looking for an assault course this could be the place for you.

This is the Soi Wat Boon crossroads, Soi Wat Boons only saving grace is that it used to be home to The Blind Beggar and is now home to the Winchester Club.

This house used to be wider but they had to sell off a meter or so of it on the left hand side for the road.

Of course, if your a pig ignorant dickhead with no thought to others you can always use the overtaking lane for parking your car or truck, note the white Isuzu is even parked facing the oncoming traffic, the joys to be had if you have the mentality of a Thai person.

Gotta laugh (ok, black humor) every time I see those open sewers/man holes. On the other hand, maybe we need that back home to sort of cull the herd, so to speak.

Not surprised, those US Navy missile launchers would make anybody feel inadequate. Of course their aim's not too accurate but we've all been there, "sorry tee-rak, I didn't mean to get it in your eye, here's an extra 100 baht (heh-heh, burn, bitch!) "

    Pattaya Buddha Mountain

So back up to Buddha mountain, now I'm not sure if this is considered 2 mountains, or maybe one mountain as a road seperates them, so probably 2 mountains, one has the big golden Buddha, a Chinese Temple and loads of other stuff, the other has a radio station transmitter and not a lot else really.

This is the one with not a lot else.

Pretty sure thats a coffin inside there, probably some famous dead monk, didn't think we had these in Pattaya.

And a bell, really there isn't a lot up there, some statue of the Navy big boss, a Monk that does fortune telling, he was busy, everybody wants to know which lottery numbers to buy.

Anyway, should this be called Buddha Hill or Buddha mountain, it aint very high, so I googled smallest mountains.

    Definitions of "mountain" include:
    • Height over base of at least 2,500 m (8,202 ft).
    • Height over base of 1,500 m (4,921 ft).–2,500 m (8,202 ft). with a slope greater than 2 degrees
    • Height over base of 1,000 m (3,281 ft).–1,500 m (4,921 ft). with a slope greater than 5 degrees
    • Local (radius 7,000 m (22,966 ft). elevation greater than 300 m (984 ft)., or 300 m (984 ft)–1,000 m (3,281 ft). if local (radius 7,000 m (22,966 ft). elevation is greater than 300 m (984 ft).
Yep, seems it should be called Buddha Hill, doesn't sound so grand though does it.

In the good old days we used to call it Big Buddha Hill. Nowadays it is usually called Buddha Hill or Pattaya Hill.

The Most Famous Thing in Pattaya

The most famous thing in Pattaya isn't Soi Yodsak nor Walking Street, well for the Thais anyway, it is the big Buddha Temple.

It is all being repainted and looks quite nice, also the Monks seem to be getting a few ladies trying to tempt them, note the black bra on the Thai girl, hardly suitable attire for a Temple grounds, perhaps its her lunch hour.

    The big Buddha freshly painted.

Do men have nipples like that or is this a female Buddha?

    Pattaya Buddha Hill

More photos from Buddha Hill, first up a view of Pattaya Park Hotel, shame it's such a grey day.

On Buddha Hill they have a Chinese Temple, no idea why, one of the dragons.

Obviously has loads of golden Buddha Statues, think 2 pics is more than enough.

    Is this a malnourished Ghandi?

I did want her in the pic as I was a bit shocked at how she was dressed, not really the done attire for a temple as the monks may turn into raging sex fiends, or something.
