I would also recommend Dr Aree at the PIC - she has sensitive teeth herself and at at least feels some empathy.

    Dog,
take a run to Pyathai Hospital in Sriracha. Next to Robinsons store, pleny parking and a few good restaurants nearby. I fell asleep during treatment, absolutely no pain. I had the lot done, maybe about 12 visits and never felt pain once. And cheap as they can be. I was quoted 450 baht for an extraction when I had my problems, but ended up getting the root canal job. Sounds terrible, but was OK

Ok it seems there are a few dentists in Pattaya and the surrounding area that aren't practicing for working in world war 3 german prison camps, all I have ever heard is horror stories, Dr Aree sounds about right to me I think.

I shit my pants at the thought of going to the dentist but last year I was talked into going to the BKK Pattaya.
I was seen by Dr Thepasit, trained and lived in the USA for a long time, who speaks excellent English.
I got my point over so well about being a dental pussy that he even numbed my teeth just to clean them.
In the end I needed a new crown and a FUKKIN ROOT CANAL !!!!
There was no enjoyment for me but I was made as comfortable as possible. As I remember the total cost was about 25 k.
Dr Thepasit has since opened his own place on the Dolphin roundabout. It feels like I may have to visit him again soon unless someone knows of a dentist who will knock me out totally ?

If anyone knows of a dentist who freely gives general anaesthetic, PLEASE PM ME !!!
I would post pictures but life's too short.

Instantly recognisable symptoms > from the original post , a very slight niggle , onto a twinge now and again , then an occasional throb , followed by a temporary lull in proceedings , ( whilst quietly thinking to one, self I,m sure it,s better ) then it returns with a vengance throb throb throb ouch throb throb aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh !!!!!
Yes its that time to go and try and grip the dentists chair , whilst trying to look brave infront of the assistant , as the skin is splitting on your knuckles.
Sure we have all been there .
Actually I quite like it as my dentist is a South African lady with oversized lactose pots and she will insist plugging both my ears with them as she is standing behind me drilling away

Good luck with it anyway ,, oh best get it done Thursday as Friday is the 13th
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

My dentist gives me a double dose of valium which sends me off to la la land for a couple of hours.

The worst part is sitting on the bus dribbling on my way home.

I nearly went today, almost, but my girlfriend was using the motorbike this afternoon, sadly she came back early but then my son used the bike, so it was close, the car is parked off road and they have taken the road away so I couldn't use that, can't go on a Friday the 13th, not that I believe in that rubbish but it sure makes a good excuse.

Of course it is a well known fact that people who like to inflict pain on others generally work in GW Bush's secret torture prisons or become dentists.

Anyway, first job is a chipped tooth at the back, pretty sure they just glue a bit of fake tooth in its place, at least I hope so, pretty sure they aint allowed to hurt me doing that as they don't need drills and stuff, a good torturer enjoys using power tools to do their job

No pain at all, I'm well 'ard, thats why I don't want to go I know they will want to use their power tools, they want to make each visit a memorable experience for the customer, imagine if you just bought yourself a shiny new concrete drill, a real beasty, you would spend the day hanging up pictures and drilling holes, just because you could

555 + That old chestnut ,,,,,, sorry to say that inevitable day is drawing ever closer.

As I live in an area where all our Eastern Block friends + companions seem to congregate and have block booked all our local NHS dentists , I am in the priveliged position of having to pay private for my pain , think my dentists rate of pay works out about £240 per hour , she has a 24 hour cancellation policy , and 3 books of excuses that cannot be used to wave the fee .
However I have been known to stretch it a bit with some sob story about the M25 + a nice large slice of my home made carrot cake .

OK next month I am gonna harden the fuck up, I need a tiny bit of cosmetic surgery, I need a tiny bit of serious surgery, then I need some dental stuff done, I am going to go for it all in one day cos I'm well 'ard, although with Thai's and serious surgery I stand a good chance of ending up dead, so that may save some money at the dentists.

    nitrious oxide

DD, I feel your anxiety for sure. I haven’t been to a dentist for years and I know I am overdue but when I go I always have a little chat with the practitioner BEFORE the game begins.

I tell him/her that I cannot handle pain that I don’t like the sounds and smells of dental work being applied to my mouth. And I always ask for a shot of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) before the injections begin. I also politely remind them that I am 105 KGs so it takes a little more “juice” to get me in a good mood.

I always ask them to kindly explain what they are doing (as they are doing it) along with the nitrous oxide affect tends to make the experience somewhat amusing if not funny (believe it or not).

If any of you have had nitrous oxide then you know what I’m talking about….Great Stuff for taking the edge off unpleasant situations.

If you go in with a brave look on your face, it seems they sometimes have a morbid plan to see how long that brave face can last. I always put the look of fear on my face and make sure they understand that I am scared and don’t want to experience more pain than is necessary. Seems to have worked for me.

Bugsy I really dont understand what your so worried about mate ,,, did you have a bad experience in the ol chair in times past ??

Time s have changed in dentistry a hell of a lot ,, I remember as a boy grimmicing in the chair with those poxy old rubber belts winding the drill around slowly grinding away with no anasthetic untill the dentist could no longer bear my screaming in his ears ,, then he knew he had got deep enuf into my gums to stop and pour the cement in .

Mate its a lot diffo now ,,,,,,,,, even put some gear on some cotton wool to numb the gum a bit before they inject it to numb it ,,,,,,, you wont feel a thing ,sit back and enjoy the ride ,I do !

Yeah understand mate ,, the point I was making was just if you had an underlying fear caused by a bad past experience like I had.

In the 60,s + 70,s it was pretty basic and the memories are still in my head ,, however I have no probs now as have had so much done with no probs . Infact I have a gold crown in the front upper 3 ( bit of teckkie dental talk ) lol , that was done over 6 visits ,, now that area aint the best place in the gob to have needles shoved up , and this also involved drilling into the jaw to set in a threaded post for the crown to be screwed into ,, well I can tell you mate apart from the bloody jaw ache holding it open for so long while the scaffolding was in it was 100% painless , it also involved soldering the ol root canal in to.

Honestly mate I know its a bastard if you suffer like that and you have my sypathy if your having toothache , but in the end you gotta go and with the right dentist its painless .

Untill ......................... you come to pay good luck mate

Was listening to the radio and heard this story (below) and thought about this thread.

According to NBC affiliate WLWT, Kyle Willis' wisdom tooth started hurting two weeks ago. When dentists told him it needed to be pulled, he decided to forgo the procedure, because he was unemployed and had no health insurance.

When his face started swelling and his head began to ache, Willis went to the emergency room, where he received prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medications. Willis couldn't afford both, so he chose the pain medications.

The tooth infection spread, causing his brain to swell. He died Tuesday.

(Snip and part of the same article)

Willis' story is not unique. In 2007, 12-year-old Deamonte Driver also died when a tooth infection spread to his brain. The Maryland boy underwent two operations and six weeks of hospital care, totaling $250,000. Doctors said a routine $80 tooth extraction could have saved his life. His family was uninsured and had recently lost its Medicaid benefits, keeping Deamonte from having dental surgery.

The female dentist in the Soi between 7 and 8 is brilliant, absolutely guarantee her work, was recommended by a friend a few years ago and always gone there since.
She great at doing cracked teeth and crowns etc, I'm sure she's had plenty of practice down that way. She Chinese-Thai and well do-able too I'll tell ya. You can't miss the place, it's got a pink sign with a tooth on it and an open reception at the front.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
