Pattaya Restaurant - Indian

Pattaya has quite a few Indian restaurants, this one is The Nawab on Pratamnak Road on the corner of Soi 5, got a few nice large signs with one proclaiming Indian, Pakistani, Arabic and Thai food, although their Thai food menu did consist of mainly Isaan dishes, ie som tam and gai yang type of meals.

(Pratamnak Road is the road leading from South Pattaya up and round Buddha mountain and leading onto Jomtien.)

Obviously this place is a bit more expensive than say Neeroys curry house on Soi Chaiyapoon, but the area is quite a bit more upmarket and rents are a lot higher here, but all in all it seems to be of reasonable value.



As it is quite high up on Buddha mountain it does get some nice breeze and the restaurant is all open air, some of it is roofed and some of it is protected from the sun by large trees, but the garden area looks quite nice.



Nice wooden furniture and all nice and clean.



My chicken tikka, the Indian menu is quite extensive and main dishes start around 160baht which is how much the tikka was, the tikka was quite nice but I think next time I shall go for the rogan josh and a small tandoori chicken.



Naan bread was 30 baht and came with the spicy mint sauce, popadoms 20baht.
They have garlic naan and a few other versions of naan bread, also samosas and bhajis.
Definitely worth a visit if your in the area and fancy some Indian food.



Once you have finished your meal you may want to take a drive down to the bottom of Soi 5 where there is a nice beach to spend the day on. Pratumnak Soi 5 Beach (Pattaya Beach, Pratumnak Road Soi 5 and 6)

I ate in that place last month, food wasn't bad, but a bit less than spicy, I had the tandoori chicken as depicted in DD's photo, definitely not cooked in a tandoori tho', it was Ok, the dragon had a korma, which was well under spiced.
All in all, my view i think that for the money they charge it was not really great value, but tourists would think it was great. If your in the area give it a try, I may just be a bit fussy.

^In the UK kormas don't have any spices in at all I believe, just always tasted like chicken in yogurt to me.

Hey, that's my local!

I usually go there once a week to eat the Indian food, which is pretty tasty. My wife has the Issan food menu and says it;s very good.

All in all, it''s a nice place within 200 meters of my office and condo.

'.. rents are a lot higher here...'?

Bollox! I pay a miserable 2,500 baht per month for a seaview 60 square meter condo just 200 meters from that restaurant!

You might be right simon, but I have lived in Malaysia for some time, and the indians there know how to make bloody good Indian nosh. everything here is a pale and insipid representation of Indian food.

Apartments in say Argyle which is less than 100 meters away cost more than that perday, you really are slumming it, although they do have some small rooms for 1,000 baht per day low season special.

You might be right simon, but I have lived in Malaysia for some time, and the indians there know how to make bloody good Indian nosh.

The staff are Nepalese, I think that helps, ie the staff at Nawam.

DD - I'll accept the frugal living bit, but the rest? nah!! Air con 60 m2 condo, hot shower, kitchen, view of Koh Larn. I'm living above the Hot Rod bike shop if you want to come and stay

BTW, that Indian restaurant seems to be owned by a local police guy. The only downside is that they offer big-screen football TV, (which is a real turn-off for someone who went to a Grammar school where footie was banned and rugby was de rigour)

Ooops, seems I am stalking you then Simon, I was there yesterday, buel and harley place, it's actually quite a nice building, some real nice bikes in there but they wont let you take pictures

DD - the owner is a nice English guy, but he gets sick of people like you slobbering all over the bikes. You can see that he recently built a 'moat' to stop you lot leaving your dirty paw prints all over the windows as well.

BTW, apparently most of the bikes in that shop are not for sale but simply in 'open storage' for the owners who occasionally come and ride them along Beach Road.

Yes, they have! I confirmed this with the manager on our last visit, as a friend wanted to take some freshly cooked breads home at the end of the evening.

Must say that this place is well worth the drive from Ban Chang.

That Tikka looks nice, there is a Tikka Indian shop in soi Baukoa about opposite soi Honey is good too,
