Ko Larn is ok for a day trip but their is not much happening at night. If you want a nice island beach near Pattaya you would be better heading for Ko Samet. Better choice of accommodation and a little bit more to do when the sun goes down.

I wasn't looking but their is charters on most Islands. Even if you dont find one most Thais with a boat would happily take you out. Just walk down to the harbour and ask around. That's what i usually do.

Here is a pic I took on Koh Larn last trip in August.

Can't find where to add a pic.

Try this link instead.

And on the ferry back.

Forget Koh Larn, there is nothing there, period, nothing. People go there for a day trip to lay on the beach and swim, and come back in the late afternoon to Pattaya. If this is what you plan to do, drinking fishing drinking drinking fishing and women, then Pattaya is where you need to be staying. Plenty of drink and women, 24/7. At Bali Pier, many boats are available to take you out fishing at a reasonable price. It sounds like you want to party, and Pattaya is the place. Just use some common sense, and you will stay out of trouble. Good luck and thanks for your work in Iraq.

Alternatively, hit FLBs or somewhere, find a "fishing" companion, pay the bar fines for a few days and take her with you. Samet sounds the best bet.

Then you can do everything in the precise amounts you want.

Agree with the boating thing. Get a Thai "fishing" companion who can speak good English and she can get the boat organised for you. take an esky of beer and food for the day, and you'll have a whale of a time.

This thread has a lot of good information for those who wish to have "legit" time in Pattya and do so fishing with added advantage of some clandetine activity at night. Thanks guys.
