    Buy Your Pattaya Police Here

In Pattaya you can donate towards the cost of a police box, ie if you have a restaurant you can buy and fit them a nice air-con so they don't get too hot, or maybe get them a tv so they have something to do on those long boring nights, and for that you get a nice sign advertising your business on their police box.

Obviously this could in the future cause conflicts of interest, you get a complainer at your restaurant, he calls the police, your police buddies come and you ask them how their lovely air-con that you bought them is going, then you let them deal with the complaint, a slight conflict of interests and no fair hearing on that complaint.

So lets look at a nice police box in Pattaya on Sukhumvit Road, this one has been sponsored by GoGo Bars of all things, now this has to cause a conflict of interest I would have thought, semi illegal businesses giving the police money openly to advertise on their police box

Going back 20 years or so every police box/station sign on Samuei was "sponsored" by Singha beer, The Singha portion was bigger than the Police........

    You gotta laugh really.

Unless you're an honest businessman with a conflicting business.

Which in Pattaya isn't really likely.

The box on Bangla road is sponsored by Burger King. I have been tempted to go up and knock on the windpw and insist on being served a large Whopper meal.

I think the open sponsorship is a step towards honesty in Thai society. Everyone knows it is corrupt as fuck so why not openly solsicit brand sponsorship. I think MacDonalds and Starbucks logos accross the chests of the drab brown shirts would make them a bit more eye catching.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. I like the nightlife in Pattaya and prefer the police concentrate their efforts on crimes that actually have victims. The complete lack of pretentiousness in some areas is something I like about the Thai police and Thai society.

Jesus Bob. Maybe you have a different understating of the word than I do but that is not how I understand the cops demeanor.

The quality of being pretentious (behaving or speaking in such a manner as to create a false appearance of great importance or worth)

Exactly. This is a step forward in transparency. Better to have a public list of companies who who provided the money to the police than to have it hidden.

I know where you're coming from but you surely don't believe it will happen here in the next zillion years................do you?

Too entrenched in the society overall, not just the cops.
