Caddy Shack doesn't do a carvey I dont think, they do plated roast meals on Sunday. It's a great little pub with good food, though like Punch & Judy (which is across the road from it) it's a bit off the tourist trail.

Any possibility the 'all you can eat buffets' are a gimmick to get people in and charge a higher price for just a plate? Think I was quoted B 195 for a plate Caddy Shack.

I'll just do the plate unless it's a holiday meal like Christmas.

Sportsman is the one I plan to hit up.

Yes, when it comes to Pattaya my mind is on all the wonderful food on offer and not boozing it up or getting my bits nibbled.

I had an early morning meeting with my IT guy at The Tropical Bar on Soi Kao Noi today and he ordered a breakfast that looked wonderful and according to my mate was superb.

I wonder if Burt's Sunday roast looks as handsome.

I must try both meals one day soon.

I would take anything the local media groups say with a pinch of salt. Their favourite bar or restaurant of the month is usually the one spending the most on advertising.

^That's true Gary, but their top-3 are the same as mine in this case.

Well actually the winner by a country mile for Sunday lunch in Pattaya is Mantra, but at around 2000 Baht a head before drinks it's apples vs oranges...

I've seen people eat like they're in a completion at Sunday carveries here, and others who can barely get thru one small plate. I guess that's that's the idea behind being able to get a plated meal, so those without big appetites can still have a taste of everything without paying the same amount as Mr Creosote at the next table.

The choices of food available here is just ridiculous and being such a saturated market, the customer is the winner. Places with mediocre food and/or inflated prices have a short life expectancy.

So if I understand correctly (and I'm fairly sure I don't) you're saying these beers used to be sold in Pattaya but aren't any longer?
    Errr...yes and no......... I think.

I was hoping to elicit an update from Retox...............

The quality of most buffets is merely adequate and reflects the fact we live in a country which stifles free trade and competition. The so-called higher end is just average and the bottom feeding 'expat' lower end is scarcely above the transport cafe standard anywhere in Britain.

The Mantara in say HK or Singapore would struggle.

We visited Retox on Soi Honey/2nd Road yesterday where they were selling copious amounts of broon beer. I ate humble pie (well beef & onion actually) as I was totally wrong about brown beer becoming extinct locally.
Apparently I was given false news out at Retox on the Darkside.

The owner of the Retox group wont be on here today. He will be too busy counting his baht. All his places were standing room only this morning during the Mayweather fight.

I see the Retox Bar on the darkside is up for sale....Is the empire starting to crumble or is it a mere blip?

There's an opportunity for a pie manufacturer to get into retail!

Alan the former owner is considering buying it back but purely and simply parking there is a major issue.

Word is, the further expansion of the 'retox bar chain success story' is mainly focused on Cambo.
Hope they keep going here on the darkside though- the 100bht breakfasts are a steal, cider is cheap, their daily specials quite worthy, and you can watch pretty much any sport there.

Im not keen on that Retox brekky. Their sunday dinner is well worth 199 baht though.

Try the Holland Tulip for brekky Sab. Bake their own bread there too

    Pattaya and Cambodia, eh?

Seems they've identified a target demographic.

Millennials? Bit strange comparing the demographics of a tourist city to that of a nation.

Funny Cambo is getting mentioned because I see that PP institution Sharkys has closed down.....I wonder if it's about to be relaunched as a Retox?

It seems that the Robin Hood is no longer part of the Retox Group having been sold.

^That would explain some new guy taking over the PR reigns on the Pattaya food groups, and advertising today's Robin Hood special as fish & chips seeing as it's Friday. Is this guy a drinker by chance .

The attachment regarding the Darkside Retox got pulled before I got to read it but from the comments that remained, it seems like there's been a rort of some description. Any insight?.
