    Boss Suites Pattaya, a s**thole

We, the family, just spent a few days in Pattaya. We stayed at the 'Boss Suites' which I believe was formerly the 'Dianna Inn. I could be wrong. It's situated on Second road, opposite, near to 'Mike's Shopping Mall'

What a shit hole for 2,500 Baht per night. Mind you they did allow us to put the third child in at no extra charge. And so they should have. First off the car park is too small. It's big enough for about 6-8 cars. And once you park up you have to leave your car in neutral, with hand-break off, so an attendant can push cars around to accommodate all guests.

Our room was clean, but dated, and had recently been decorated but badly. Obviously not done by professional decorators. It was livable but not for 2,500 a night. Most important, there were no fire extinguishers on the fire points.

I only looked on the floor we stayed on but the floor was a dumping ground for old mattresses going back at least 20 years by the look of the design and condition they were in. Also from our windows we could see other suites adjacent to the car park. The rooms which were non-occupiable due to being run down were storage areas for old defunct A/C units, fridges, TV's you name it they just seem to keep it.

It has an all you can eat breakfast which I believe to be owned by some one affiliated to the hotel. It seemed to serve food to other hotels who were adjacent to Boss Suites. To get a fried or scrambled egg you had to exit to the car park where a guy cooked them up. If you wanted bacon (US type) you had to pay 30 Baht extra to the guy cooking.

All In all I've kept this short and should have posted photo's but unfortunately my camera has gone a bollix. Stay well clear of the Boss Suites, now and in the future, is my advice. I can't see things improving unless they knock it down and start from scratch.

What part of the star rating is that?

    Caveat emptor

All this is what hotels love. Book on-line without seeing or knowing. Price inflated to western levels, et al..

    Aye, fair enough.

But with a family surely you need to be prepared at least to stump up some cash and stay somewhere with a decent pool at least. And also somewhere just a little way off the main drag.

Eggs any style from the car park is a classy touch. I'll be waiting for the verdict from dannyboy before booking though.

quite frankly, anybody who books to stay at a place named "boss suites " deserves all they get.

it conjures up a picture of a cheap shithole masquerading as an luxury gaff aimed at the stingy indian or scruffy eastern european market and being owned and run by a bad tempered gimlet eyed elderly thai chinese hag and her chain smoking flip flop wearing husband who spend their free time sorting out the 50 satang coins from the 25 satang ones

With having 3 young kids it's very difficult to find an hotel where they have family rooms. And the ones where they do have them limit the guests to 4 persons. We therefore have to book 2 rooms and it's a fcuker if the rooms aren't next to each other as the kids are in and out.
Originally we booked using 'Booking.com' priced at 10,500 for 3 nights. They wanted paying by credit card. My missus likes to use cash so she phoned the hotel about making payment. She was then told pay on arrival to them was 7,500 Baht.

Off Topic I know ..... but!

I can never understand why some people prefer to write "Patters" instead of Pattaya, or "Bangers" rather than Bangkok. It saves no time in typing - since both contain exactly the same number of letters: I can only assume it's a rather sad attempt to proclaim a sort of "Old Hand, I've been here so long I have a personal, unique and jaded relationship with Thailand" attitude.

    Why is this?

Interesting point. Patters two syllables, Pattaya 3. Bangers - two, Bangkok two - so no diff.. But maybe they just fall easier on a western tounge that the proper place names?
