Not content with destroying Pattayas most famous daytime soi with 6pm bar opening times the boys in green were back on the soi yesterday ordering cops to fine folk who were smoking vapour cigs. Anyone caught smoking vapours in the bars were getting 2500B on the spot fines. It look likes the authorities after years of threats are finally trying to kill off the soi.
It was quite stange watching soldiers ordering cops about.
I was at the Queen Vic for food i may add not visiting any short time rooms which are also facing a crackdown.

Its supposed to be all bars but when you wander about during the day there are still plenty of bars openly trading. The 6pm thing is alchohol sales only. Bars can still sell food.

Could be our glorious leaders have recognised the profit potential of soi 6, either as is with uniformed owners or to demolish/rebuild/renovate and pack more of the same into the existing space. When Walking Street comes under major construction there will be lots of spare farangs to service other zones.

I am very surprised at the total lack of publicity given in foreign media, and international tourist and traveller i-mag's, about this. I mean Pattaya is one of the worlds most (in)famous tourism and 'entertainment' destinations- and now officially bans the sale of alcohol until 6pm! Oh sure, you can get one nudge wink- but you are therefore commiting an offence, and are therefore at the mercy of any cop or tight greenie that is in the vicinity. And seeing as there seems to be a bit of a turf war going on between the local police and the men in tight green, the possibility of this happening is quite high.

I was drinking in Soi 6 again last night and the place was very busy which is in contrast to the rest of Pattaya which is dead. This was after 6pm so I'm not sure if the day time ban is still in place. Also punters openly smoking and not a cop in sight.

Not much LT on 6 however if you go next door to Soi. 6.5
