Antique Dealer Pistol Whips Wrong Man

Pattaya antique dealer, Mr Panya Phitsapan, 38, was arrested last night for assaulting an 18 year old Thai male with a 9mm pistol in Pattaya Klang.

The victim, Mr Sakarin Wirakun, was driving with a female passenger in his white Honda Civic at 4.30am this morning when a car swerved in front of them and forced him to stop. Mr Wirakun told police officers that the driver of the other car approached his vehicle and struck him with a pistol above his left eye.

According to police reports, the antique dealer confessed to police officers that he had mistaken Mr Wirakunís female passenger for his own girlfriend after she had gone out to meet friends that night and not returned his calls. He went on to say how he had left several voicemail messages for his girlfriend and sent several text messages via SMS and Line that had not been read. He became angry and suspicious as they had previously agreed to party together in Walking Street that night. He then set out to find his girlfriend around the popular entertainment areas in Pattaya.

It is understood that Mr Phitsapan had purchased a white Honda Civic car for his girlfriend earlier this year. Then after seeing a young lady fitting her description in the passenger seat of a car of the same make and model, he flew into a jealous rage which resulted in the innocent victim getting pulled over and pistol whipped. After realising his mistake, the attacker apologised and attempted to negotiate with the victim as police officers arrived at the scene.

The 9mm pistol is a legally registered firearm but Mr Phitsapan was arrested and is facing charges for carrying a concealed weapon within city limits. His 18 year old victim was taken to Pattaya Memorial hospital for treatment.

That'll teach him not to be the 'wrong man' in the future.

Seems a bit of a ways away from 'Going For A Song'.

I wonder if Arthur Negus used to get up to this sort of stuff on the weekend?
