    Jomtien Palm Beach Restaurant

Well this illegally built restaurant has been running for a couple of years, They had problems with city hall as they built on public land, but a few backhanders sorted that and it seems now that they can use the public land, but the owner of this place is quite used to dealing with difficult situations, when his hotel caught fire a few years ago and killed 100 plus guests he suddenly changed the ownership over to his daughter who died in the fire, yep so there were no comebacks for him, the reason they all died was because they had locked all the fire escape doors to stop people doing a runner with out paying, yep let 100 plus people die so you can get your 600baht per night charge for the rooms, the fire was caused by one of his highly educated kitchen staff who tried changing a gas bottle while the gas was still on, clever chappies these Thais.

Anyway lets move onto the restaurant, yes I braved death by going there cos I am well hard, anyway obviously we sat outside cos we didn't want the cnuts locking us in if there was a fire, it is actually quite a classy place and has nice tablecloths and proper spoons knives and forks, you know the ones, the ones that don't bend when you try to cut or pick up a piece of food with them.

Anyway, each table has it's own candle which is quite romantic, although green candles really don't do anything for me, I mean why the fok do Thais like the color green so much?

The staff are well trained and actually took our drinks order first, which I might add was quite suprising, so many places they like to hang around to do the whole order in one go, but I am clued up on this cos I really don't like ice cream as a starter, yes that has happened on more than one occasion, fokwitts.

So then we ordered my son had his usual tom yam krung, he has ordered that every time we go out for the last 4 years and still aint bored with it, I ordered hoy lie, thats sea shell stuff in curry sauce, and the galfriend ordered squid in oyster sauce and some balls from some animal or something, I didn't try them.

They also had a steak promotion, I have to admit that I would never eat steak from a Thai run place though, I mean who needs to break their teeth trying to eat what a Thai considers a good steak.excuse me sir, do you have a chainsaw so I can cut my steak Yep Thai places are out for me when it comes to farang food, let them stick to what they are good at, but looking at the prices they were charging it should have been good stuff.

Anyway all in all it was a pretty good meal and the service was pretty damn good, we got all the dishes within 5 minutes which I believe is quite exceptional for Thais, and so far I haven't puked up, let's see how my bottom behaves tomorrow, but hell for 3 people, 680 baht aint too bad
