    Pattaya Silverlake Vineyard

Silverlake Vineyard is about 10km from Pattaya heading towards Sattahip and away from Bangkok, on Sukhumvit Road it is well sign posted and situated next to Khao Chi Chan (the mountain with Buddha image on it in gold). More on Khao Chi Chan (Khao Chee Chan - Pattaya).

For a vineyard it doesn't seem to make much wine, nor does it seem to do the tasting sessions you normally get at a vineyard, shame really, but they do sell the grapes, also grape juice, grape jam and other grape inspired products.

The Silverlake Wine & Grill, now this like the rest of the buildings at the winery is a really nice building, everything about it speaks quality, from the bathrooms to the exteriors of the buildings, some of the buildings aren't being used yet, one looks like it will be a coffee shop, some of the others I have no idea but they are nice.

You have to admit this building does look good, much too good for being so close to Pattaya, although I think it is only busy on the weekends with Thais from Bangkok coming down.

This pizza building was to the left of the main restaurant, it sort of lets the area down, but for pizza lovers if they do a good pizza they wont care.

Looks like they got a wood fired BBQ going in to cook those pizzas in.

Here is another nice building, this area overlooks the lake, the mountains and the vineyards, ie a million dollar view, also overlooks a windmill, not sure what that is doing there, shall post a photo of it later, does look quite nice though.

Its a very nice drive indeed past the Buddah image and the Silverlake, then you go through some nice hills and pop at right at Ban Chang. A nice back way and you avoid the Sukhumvit highway as well. I have done it a on my way to SEA's house. He in fact told me about the nice drive. But its not lighted well so its a much better day time road. Friends have told me they make a nice pizza as well.

    Silverlake Winery

^That is a nice road to drive down to get to Ban Chang, especially if you have rented a nice big bike from Pattaya

The vines at the vineyard, I tried growing some in Jomtien a few years ago, they sort of died off, probably because I have no valleys or mountains I suppose, not sure if they are seasonal in Thailand or they can get the vines to produce grapes all year round, anyway this lot had no grapes that I saw.

The vineyard leading down to the lake, they are extending the lake to the other side of the road, trouble is the new part of the lake does look man made which tends to spoil it a bit, well I think so.

Some of the Silverlake wine for sale in the grape shop, actually this was the only wine I saw for sale, starts at 550baht a bottle which is a tad expensive for Thailand, but hell it maybe quite a good wine, the 800baht a bottle one should be damn good for that price.

The windmill with Khao Chi Chan in the background, they have tour cars that you can go round on as part of a guided tour, but I have seen grapes before.

The gardens are quite nice although this photo isn't the best example to show them off, but if you want to see nice gardens then 3km down the road is Nong Nooch Gardens, now that place is worth a visit.

Silverlake, is one of the most beautiful areas of Thailand, the nearby temples, fields and Buddha image give it an almost spiritual quality, and that restaurant has excellent food and atmosphere. I still think it's sad that the Thais could not leave it alone, and the construction and clearing work which you omitted from your photographs appears to be excessive, gaudy and phony. There was even some talk of putting a silly water park there.

It's been beautiful for years and has attracted my visitors including Thais, and I really hope they do not turn it into a cheap extension of Pattaya, that would be such a waste.

I was very disappointed when I went there to find out there was no wine for tasting.
After a few over priced glasses of wine in their restaurant it was obvious that the wines not quite ready for consumption.

I think the intended water park is now going to be at Bang Saray... It should be quite silly as it is going to be a Cartoon Network themed water park but sounds like it will be good fun.

https://teakdoor.com/thailand-and-asi...ark-being.html (Cartoon Network-themed water park is being built in Bang Saray bay)

Good idea though to keep it away from the Silverlake area.

I took my daughter there a few years back.

Like all 5 year old kids she was entranced with a horse-drawn buggy ride.

The horses are miserable, wormy ponies (the drivers looked much the same).

Saw some Thai guy that had more testosterone than brains beating the holy f<ck out of one with a rope whip because he wouldn't go, right in front of about 50 Thai tourists, but whadya expect in Asia?

Aside from that it was a nice day out.

The snack stand had beer for me & ice cream for the kid....Hooray!
