Nong's Bistro, a review, sort of.

About a week ago my future ex wife said that she had noticed a new restaurant on Siam Country Club.

    'And'?, I said.

They have a saticka in the window of that beer you like.

My tastes are varied and apparently I was wankered when she told me so I have zero recall of that conversation.

Anyway, today we are driving down SSCC and she goes that's the place I told you about (obviously there was bit of reminding about WTF she was talking about) so I have a look and fark moi! They have Stella Artois satickas on their windows !!

So this evening, my future ex wife, my future ex sister in law, my son, my daughter and a great looking fella, who looks like me, ended up in Nongs Bistro.

I suppose this is where my attempt at a review starts.....

Deep breath, eyes down,. here we go.....

We walked in and straight away the the AC and fans were put on.

We were the only customers at the time so obviously there was no reason to have the AC on before we got there.

Then cold bottled Stella beer was served to me and apparently the other people on my table got served the assorted soft drinks they ordered.

    The menu.

The menu was really quite impressive the only thing that was missing was a vegetarian section but in truth I live with that.

    Anyway, we ordered....

I had home made ravioli with spinach and ricotta in Gorgonzola sauce

my future ex wife had a steak with all the trimmings

my future ex SIL had Thai fud

    my daughter had Thai fud

my son had salmon steak with all the trimmings

    Everyone loved their food!

The service was good, the place was clean, the staff were great etc etc

Just as we were about to leave a couple walked in and sort of disappeared somewhere?

We had just ordered the bill when I thought I heard the sound of a pool table dropping the balls from out the back.

Obviously my FEW said I was a drunken twat for hearing such things.

    'Bollox' I said.

I ventured out the back, past the toilets, and fark moi! there's a huge open area with stools, tables and a pool table.

The couple who walked in and disappeared were now visible. After a brief conversation it turns out that they were the owners.

I believe their names were Bernard (don't quote me on that), who is Belgium and Nong (pretty sure about that one) who is Thai.

    They are lovely people.

Also from the pool table area I got to see the kitchen.

The kitchen at Nong's Bistro is fully kitted out in stainless steel and absolutely spotless!
All off the kitchen staff wear chefs whites!

I looked and I looked and I have to say the kitchen is spotless !!

We thought the place had just opened but Bernard told me they had been open for a year.

The only thing they were missing this evening were customers and I'm hoping by my attempt at a drunken write up they will get some more.

I have my parents arriving in a few days and Nongs Bistro will definitely be visited several times in the month they're here.

All in all a great place

PS, it's about 1 km after the crossroads going towards Sukhumvit on the LHS, just after the Thai air booking office.
I would post pictures but life's too short.

Where might it be on Soi Siam, Kurgen? It's quite a lengthy, busy soi to trawl to find one restaurant among many.

It's been there for about a year indeed but I have not been in yet. I just assumed it was another gash place selling shite food (same menu as every other place). However good skills on venturing in. Will give them some support.

A bit further up opposite the football in a cage thing is an icecream factory Ci Gusta or something like that by the Bali Hai (bird works in there, not the thumper munchkin, but another one, is a stunner by the way). Icecream place is their factory for 3 outlets in Pattaya and is very good indeed.

Just out of interest, FEW? Surely you should have thought about that before giving her a pool and pool house to rub you nose in?

Sabang - it is neat to the new expat food store (which has some nice different goodies in there now)

I drive past the place every day and also assumed it was another hole in the wall thai food place.

I may even try it out today and thanks turdgen for the review.

She kept trying to catch you sober for a serious talk about the future, but realising the futility, switched to trying to catch you drunk senseless, invite you to a party, without you realising why you were wearing a white suit?
