Not been pattaya since 2005 whats changed

Hi everyone. im new to this forum but not to Pattaya. Was last there in 2005 when bar fines were abaout 200-300 bt and long time was 1000bt......I am planning on going back in the next 2-3 weeks for 3 weeks and was wondering if there has been any change ? Back then i got 75bt to the £ but now i see its only around 50 bt to the £. Can anyone advise if its still the same ? Also does anyone know anyone who does cheap transfers from the airport ?

At least double everything you paid back then other than the room. The consider its 50 baht to the pound. Bring lots of money.

Plenty has changed in Pattaya. There are alot less English and European tourists than I remember from 2005. Alot more Russians and other types. There are a ton of new condos and hotels on beach road. New shopping malls, there seems to be less beautiful women around than before but maybe I have changed. There are alot of new bars where the old ones used to be......
Its still ok and seedy but I like it, plenty to do and some good people watching.

Get the airport link (train) to PhayaThai get the BTS to Ekamai. The bus terminal is still at Ekamai, get the a/c bus to Pattaya (2hr) it arrives in the same place it did in 2005!

Pattaya City now is like a mini Bangkok with all the traffic jams, pollution and shite that goes with it.

If you are looking for sleaze and all that goes with it there are probably a 1,000 more bars to dip your pencil.

    ^^ Yup and -

^ Whitewashing of Russian Mafia loot driving up prices.

Learn Cyrillic letters, Cossack dancing and drinking lukewarm vodka, stay to windward of walking Indians, and don't get discouraged if they turn you away from the Jap/Korean only bars, it just means you don't fit the 3-3-3 rule -

    Pay 3000 bath
    Dick less than 3 centimetres
    Come in under 3 minutes

Besides that nothing much has changed, enjoy

A house was just valued at 18.5 million, is half the size of mine and stuck in behind Wanasin Markets.

That would mean that mine is worth 30 million but who has the money.

Yes, property values have risen but nobody is buying.

They were saying the same thing about Pattaya, and the baht, when I moved there seven years ago. They're still saying it now, and no doubt will be saying it in a decades time. These doomsayer types need a lot of patience.

Pattaya is no longer the sole province of the aging white whoremonger, it is much more cosmopolitan these days. Still plenty of sleaze to keep the mongers happy though.

You would need about 1000 pounds a week for a 3 week fun holiday, living hear is of course cheaper but still need about 500 a week for a decent lifestyle

For the transfer, if you prefer a car, I have quite a few of the 1000 baht one way cars from this search. No point recommending one as they are all the same more or less.

I've changed my pants a couple of times since 2005. Now they're inside out and back to front.

That coach service is the only thing better about Pattaya than in 2005, plus the shorter ride from the new airport. The ticket counter is at the ground floor of the airport, almost at the end on the side of the building the car traffic on the outside is going to. Next to the big Thai-food place for the employees.

Since 2005, all prices in Baht have about doubled, for drinks, ciggies, food, barfines, and what the warm bodies expect to get paid. Trippled when you count in the exchange rate.
