When I did it, the cost was £10 per dog, per day. That doesn't include flights. And it's for 6 months, or certainly was then. So you're talking at least £2000.

That's a choice only you can make. I researched back then that 1 in 4 pets died in quarantine, never through rabies, though. Hopefully, that's changed for the better. But you would have to be sure that your dogs would be happy and well looked after if you left them.
There is no way around quarantine in the UK unless you have a friend in Europe who will take your dogs for 6 months. If you send them to Europe, they live there for 6 months and get their pet passport and can come across then with no quarantine. I've also done it that way with my Mum's German Shepherd.
