    Pattaya Beech Road Revamp

This thread is should be of interest to anyone who visits Pattaya and is familiar to beech road.
I started this thread after what was just a day down on the beech turned into me and the boys spending a good few hours watching the machines at work.
    Boys will be boys

This is the start of the day a beer and then get filled in by the kids!

No off to watch some machines which was the boys idea

Thats one way to pick up a Coconut trunk!

    Fascinating stuff for the boys!
I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands of photos of the Dolphin statue at the bottom of central road.
I have a couple from years back and was glad to get this one.
Its now been demolished, would like to see a new one in its place but as of yet no sign that there will be.

Apologies for putting my kids in this thread but rarely do I take random shots of things without adding something personal.
As I viewed my pictures that evening it was then that I thought it may make an interesting thread allowing others to view the progress as it happens.

Do me best to keep the kids out of it as of now

The start of Beech road, can not remember what if anything was here so I will just wait and see what they put there.

Looking along the road at the knew block work with some different types of palm being planted.

An area prepared for blocks to go down with some more shots of the finished work.Looking pretty good so far.

Oh be careful chaps its not just the Ladyboys you need to avoid if you taking a leisurely stroll down there.
They are ripping up most of the Coconut trees with the expected health and safety measures in place.

You don,t want to be falling in there!!

I noticed that they are actually widening the road also, looked about six foot but imagine this will vary at different point in the road.
Some of the crew hard at it,well most of them anyway.

Cute kids, and Beach Road should be up and running before they marry.

They could have had a free lane at the cost of a few gallons of paint, by turning it into a no-parking zone.

Cute kids gravy but put some shorts on him!

The holes in the floor were just left like that with no warnings? That's bloody dangerous (although not surprising).

Its getting done fairly quick actually.

I have not never found the parking to be an issue on the road, the traffic always on the move with the two lanes.

    CHANG YAI

Your not wrong mate they certainly are cracking on with it!

    SATONIC

Cheers he always goes out with shorts on but soon whips them off,no harm for kiddies to run around naked.

Here,s another shot of the Dolphin statue area at the bottom of central road about a week after I took the first photos.

    Another look from the beech

This photo is a common sight I find were ever Thai people are involved in any kind of construction.
They just don,t know or are to lazy to clean any site up properly!
Look at the hard core strewn all over that bit of beech for crying out load.

Me and Spiderman are not impressed, its definitely something that needs to be addressed in this country.

For anyone not familiar with beech road Pattaya here,s a nice view,as you can see its a long drag.
The actual pathway which they are renewing can be just as busy as the road at times.
Lots of different characters to be seen day and night.
Its popular with joggers both Thai and Falang something I used to enjoy doing on my earlier visits.
There was some very nice seating areas which were shaded by the Coconut trees ,perfect for people watching and enjoying a beer.

What is going on here? Abelour is free to run about after his jailing but Dave sits in the slammer. This is bullshit. This is one of the best true family threads in a long time. A dad with his two kids. I too thought put some pants on the young one. But Dave answered the question from Satonic beautifully. Why have the little one crying if he just wants to go commando?

To be fair substandard construction is not a term I would use, they are only widening the road and laying some block paving really.
As a rule though I would tend to agree with you.

Being unsafe is like you say part and parcel with Thailand which I do prefer from a lot of the over the top health and safety to be found in other counties.

Just wish they would learn to clean up!

The new lane should be a great improvement, but without some forward thinking it'll be pumping more traffic into the funnel at the end of Beach Road/Tai.

Much like the Jomtien Thappraya widening and 2nd Road project, took ages, tons of disruption but made a huge difference once they completed. While mosais can get through most traffic, with the car I often stayed in Jomtien just to avoid the single-lane hill grind to Pattaya and back.

The new lane has already turned into a parking lane. I truly believe that when the whole of Beach Rd is done it will be exactly the same as it always, which revolves around cars/buses/trucks/vendor carts/whatever parked illegally on BOTH sides with 2 lanes of traffic trying to move in the center. And of those two lanes, the Baht Buses will be stopping/starting from the left lane so in short, it'll be a one lane traffic jam fuck-up. Not much change then.

I would like nothing more than to proved wrong, but recent drives down Beach Rd along the finished section don't paint any new rosy picture. If (and that's a BIG if) they can somehow stop anyone from parking in the right lane it might be better but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one...

Probably no parking on the beach side like before, otherwise all they've done is widen the road for more parking spaces.

I'm sure that they are planning on three lanes or just making one or both the existing lanes a bit wider.

It is a fairly busy road with a lot of coach traffic which the widening could be aimed at.
The project is focused mainly on the revamp of the walkway which is of main interest to me.

You would probably find a lot of the motors parked on the right are those that have something to do with the job.
Apart from the start of the road towards Central road I can not remember seeing motors parked on the right other than to drop of people.

Baht buses do cause a lot of congestion it has to be said but do a good turn and would be missed by many.

There is usually a Copper outside the nick eager to dish out tickets,so if you park a motor where they don,t want it chances are you will see it being lifted onto their tow truck.
A sight I witnessed with a small crowd watching while a certain Thai paced up and down talking to himself, might of been his motor

The plan may even be to have parking bays on the right in a similar way as cars park next to the beech on Jomtien beech road.

If the case is they are widening the road for more parking space I see that as a positive move.

These two fellers are going to bugger their backs, knee pads is the way to go but they are getting them laid all the same.

This looked like the lighting mop with an official inspecting their work.
If they run these street lights all along the road its going to look pretty flash at night nice touch.
More different varieties of palm are finishing of the look!

One of the Plumbers at work, his mate did mange a friendly smile that was just his photo pose.
The taps they put in are well handy, beats carry a bucket of water up the beech to wash down your feet.

Putting the boarders around the trees, hes a bit out of shot but the poor bloke humping them curb blocks around with a sack burrow with skinny wheels had his work cut out.
I think the raised circular design around a lot of the Coconut trees which they have nearly demolished looked better.
They made great seating areas along with other raised concrete seating that was there.
You kind of get the feel that they are trying to do away with seating for an obvious reason, but it will be a shame if they don,t replace a lot of it.
Have a heart the Brasses need somewhere to sit as well.

This area is almost at the bottom of Soi 6,very colorful Soi to have a wonder down most likely you would not take much notice of your surroundings once you reach the bottom.
This is going to be a seating area with perhaps some lighting or a statue in the middle.

Amazing how a bit of render can transform what appeared to be a rough job

A view in the opposite direction.

I was fare haired as a boy but not as light as him.I lot of people do comment on his hair but I expect it will gradually get darker.
