Very nice to see You and your kids having a great day out Dave, but really you should limit the swimming in Pattaya bay, the water is filled with filth, shit (no way to put that politely) and bacteria and not fit for bathing in.

I really hope the renovations on Beachroad will last a bit longer than the last ones, but my fear is that the weather and poor workmanship + lack of maintenance will leave it looking like a shambles in just a few short years.

Can't remember the specifics, but after the Tai/2nd Road fiasco some years back which Pty mayor resolved by threatening to remove the contractor from future city projects if it wasn't completed within a certain period, and which it miraculously then was, that City Hall announced it would be installing more severe time performance penalties into their roads and/or building contracts.

Didn't help in the case of Jomtien 2nd Road by Rompho and further along, when the road began crumbling and turned into pools literally with the first rains, but the bureaucratic principle might be to do it in stages, first get schedules right and then work on raising quality, materials and work ethics.

But shouldn't complain, the end product is generally well worth the wait and disruption.

Thanks that is the first time I have been on the beach in Pattaya for a few years.
It is pretty filthy but I try not to drink it
We are up at Jomtien which is not much cleaner.

joking aside I would not be going in there or the kids if we had any cuts!

Sure the recent renovations won,t be top workmanship but should be quite an improvement when its finished.

Not much disruption really if you take into consideration the heavy plant there using as the traffic flows by.

I'm not up on the politics but imagine its similar to most counties as in contracts and backhanders.

You can get a rough idea of the width that is being added to the road from this shot. This is at the bottom of central road showing the knew drain being put in.

It is nice how you can just pull up inside their working area and basically start poking round the site.
In the U.K for instance if you had no business there you would be slung off sharpish,if you was welcome you would need a hard hat and be kept about twenty foot from any Machines

The old drain being lifted out

Most recent view of the Dolphin area at the bottom of Central road, some rebar laying about so concrete will be following.
Nice to see this lone chap having a blow there probably thinking the same as me,what the!! are they going to do here.

Ah! the old walkway which with love and know.
Funny my boy was asking me why the digger man had to knock down all the Coconut trees.
Can be tricky to answer a kid as you usually get a why after every answer but he was happy with me telling him they are in the way son.
Christ knows why the feller seated as gone all shy,but he is demonstrating good use of the seating area.

    https://teakdoor.com/Gallery/albums/u.../46201/096.JPG

It is actually amazing how much progress these fellers have made, all things considered like!
These people do literally sleep anywhere anytime

On my last visit the progress as far demolition was at the Mike shopping mall.

This area of the road is quite distinctive with the raised platform with steps at either end as well as going down to the beach.

    View from across the road.

    Walking street nearly in sight.

That,s about it so far but I did miss a cracking shot at the start. It was of the lorry being loaded seen in the photo where the digger stabs the Coconut trunk in order to load it.
During a beer break with camera in pocket that lorry set off up central road a picture I would of loved to of got.
Put it this way you would not have wanted to be driving behind it.
I did get a substitute photo but although similar this lorry only had dirt, add concrete slabs/bolder,s and Coconut trunks and you get the picture.
It made this look like a three quarter load.

Thanks its sure will be for some!

For me its about something I know,I've run it dodging the Drunks chasing the faster man in front, passing the slower and side stepping the brasses.

It was a pleasure to run there or take a leisurely stroll after!

Thanks they were in their element sat there.

No they are fine mate, they do have sun suits but to be honest don,t wear them much,it was pretty overcast that day.

I do keep them out of the midday sun as much as I can though.

You must admit it is funny how things change, when I was a boy sun cream was unheard of.

Was there last week with my daughter and we passed through and went to Jomtien. Feel sorry for anyone that's booked a package holiday there. There wasn't many people walking around other than fat balded headed guys. Why do they all have bald heads?

Is it possible to reverse it from the shit hole it is?

    Nice pics btw.

As long as your kids don't burn, I guarantee they'll be more healthier than kids splashing SLS and other crap on their bodies!

They are getting there mate, the block work is looking good along with all the new palms planted but no finished result to comment on yet.

As for how long its going to last who knows!

Just before walking street at night they do cone a lane of where the baht buses drop off, then you have the lights around the bend at second road junction.
It does get a bit clogged up in the evenings, apart from making it a no stop zone there,s not a great deal they can do about that.

That old tosser with the creepy smile on his face looks well Dodgy, also never trust an old dude who does not wear his socks with his sandles.

I reckon sitting there we have the entire Mod team from Thai-Visa sharing a warm bottle of milk together after which they will all head off to Boyz Town for a right knees up and a chip sarnie.

Some may view that area as a shit hole!

Once the work is finished I will still view the road as a pleasure to walk up.For though,s that are looking for adult company it is there just like most other places albeit much more in your face.

Like the hawkers I find if you show no interest they are not a problem.

I'm not concerned with where the whore mongers go but like many I do know that they are not all old men.
I did wonder why you would take a photo such as that until I noticed stickmanBangkok .com.

It is obviously a well known fact why the majority of men come to Pattaya and other parts of Thailand, old or young I say good luck to them.

I can tell you the feller you are quick to point out as a whore monger in my photo was with a European partner who was laying on the beach.

Yes I would agree with you that there are some weirdos about but they are not exclusive to Pattaya!

If my kid wants to run about naked that,s fine with me as he never leaves my sight.
What some others may conceive in their minds is their business and not something I worry about.
If anyone was to show strange or unhealthy interest in my kids the appropriate action would be taken.

Just for the record although my boys appear in some photos( kind remarks have been appreciated ) the thread is actually about the revamp of beach road, not what every Tom Dick and Harry gets up to when they visit there.

If any member would like to add photos they have taken of the work in progress they are more than welcome.
