Taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport from Jomtien

How long does it take a taxi from Thrappaya/Threpasit Road to the airport leaving at 3AM?

In my experience, buses from Jomtien...

take around 1 hour and 40 minutes. But that's usually leaving around 3PM. I'm thinking that a taxi leaving at 3AM should be able to shave at least 20 minutes from that time. Or am I being overly optimistic?

No its very possible. Your biggest problem will be to get him to slow down in all reality.

    Just talked to United

and they told me if I got to the airort by 4:15AM, I should be o.k. The bottom line is, barring accidents or a police stop, is it unreasonable to expect a taxi to make the trip in 1 hour and 15 minutes?

I'm with aging one & nedwalk. Its just not worth the aggregation of all the possibilities along the way.

A few months ago I was in Phuket with a group from work. We had a mini bus booked to pick us up to take us to the airport. We had plenty of time booked so that we'd get to the airport early.

Then the bastard bus driver eventually turned up 1 hour later than we had agreed. He had to drive like an asshole so that we didn't miss our flight.

I'd allow 2 hours as well....We've had a few technical hitches on the way several times and not had to worry about it.

    ^ agree with all here.

It only takes a blown tire or a newbie driver from Nakhon Nowhere to balls up your timing.
It should take 75-90 minutes or so, but shit happens...

Why push it. give yourself enough time. 1 hr and 30 min is a reasonable time although it could probably be done in less time given the time of day.

If this is an expensive long haul flight at BKK, leave plenty of time. I missed one back to the States because Air Asia was way way late, I had to fly Econ not Biz, and it cost me $3K (ow).
