    Decent audio equipment in Pattaya?

Does anyone know where i can buy a decent amp and speakers?

Not looking for what i would term hi end really, but something that isn't sonyo or AJ.

So far i have tried in Central - pleasantly surprised to see mission, KEF and Mordant Shorts speakers.
Also tried in the shop just up from foodland on Klang.

Will try Numchai tomorrow but i am not expecting anything different from what i have already seen.

They mainly sell the surround sound AV receivers which is not what i need.
I only need a nice sounding 2 channel amp and a couple of decent speakers.

    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Nothing decent in Central Department store? I'm surprised, unless you haven't checked yet.

There's a big shop near Tescos on Sukhumvit that sell (according to their sign) top end sound systems. I've never been in there though.

^^ More or less the same as that electronic shop in Central but a bigger range of Denon, JBL and the like from memory.
There is also a smaller shop with some OK stuff in a Soi directly behind Big C - enter off Pattaya Tai about 100m on the left.

As above i have checked in Central, and found an ok selection of stuff but it is mainly for home cinema.

I want to connect my Traktor S4 to an ok amp and speakers, but it doesn't have to be amazing because it is only for my own enjoyment. I would prefer good quality, but don't want to spend silly money on it.

Thanks very much, will try there.

    Neep,

I was in the market for the same items as you a year or so ago. I even posted an ad here on this site...

    https://teakdoor.com/classifieds-help...-speakers.html

I ended up buying a Yamaha system which was a surround sound system because it was on sale. I don't even use the center or back speakers but just the two tower speakers.

Believe it or not, I found this system in one of those Home Pro or Home Mart stores in Udon Thani where I was living at the time.

I am used to bass reflex speakers from decades ago and these towers didn't get the job done until I added the Yamaha subwoofer for another 10k baht. ouch.

But I am pleased with this purchase.

Prior to my purchase I checked a place in BKK in PanThipPlaza, 5th floor and the place is called Mr. Balance.

He has a ton of high & mid end second hand stuff. I mean this place is packed from the floor to the ceiling--as in wall to wall with really good HiFi components and worth a look/see if you are still in the market.

Beware the owner (Thai/Chinese) is kind of a dick head, but he does know HiFi and he knows his products he sells. I also have heard that all his stuff has a 3 month or 6 month warranty and all items are brought up to specs before he shoves them into his warehouse store front shop.

The "not quite ready for prime time site"---T.V. also has a HiFi sub forum and some of those guys really know their shit when it comes to HiFi. You just have to ask.

Good luck with whatever you decide. And I'd like to know what you ended up with if you care to share that info.

    Cheers....

    Hi
Not sure about Pattaya but you can try Piyanas shop in Tukcom Sriracha. You will find what you need. Check out their website before you go (sorry can't post link) but try the name dot com. It is part of the Piyanas chain of audio stores. There is even a secondhand shop with half decent stuff outside Tops on the bottom floor. Good luck!
    Cheers,

Thanks for posting. Glad you got something that could do the job, I ended up doing much the same as you.
I moved my Sony DVD/Surround sound amp upstairs and am using the sub and two speakers also.
This will do me for the time being, as i can make plenty of noise with it as is. I would like to return my surround sound to the living room though, so i will have to find something to do the job permanently.
If i get something i will post back and let you know.

No, do they have decent audio equipment? I have seen the speakers that the copy CD sellers have, and while the volume is impressive it isn't quite what i was looking for.

6K for a cable is a bit steep. Must be a fucking good cable.

Depends what you mean by silly money.

I wouldn't bother with Pattaya. The best place for HiFi ranging from the relatively modest to the stupendous and concentrated in one site is Siam Paragon,Bangkok.

The B & W distributors there also market Scandyna products and their micro/mini pod speaker systems with the option to add a separate subwoofer can be had from 28,000 bt or thereabouts. Sound great for a medium sized room although the addition of the subwoofer will cost more pushing the budget up to, say, 50,000+.

There was a shop in Si Racha Robinsons mall that sold hi end HiFi. Admittedly haven't been there for a few years, so it may be gone.

Bang & Olufsen have an outlet in Siam Paragon. I don't think there is any real high end stuff available outside Bk, but when most people say 'high end' they are really talking of mid range stuff. High end does not come cheaply.

As i said in my OP i really don't want high end stuff. The likes of bang and olufsen aren't cheap and i suspect they would have a ludicrous markup here like alot of electronic goods.
I would buy B&O or similar for my home in the UK but not here. The modest task i want the amp and speakers for would not merit splashing out the sort of money a B&O setup would cost.

It does have a purpose, but unless you were trying to impress someone with your mindless consumption of overpriced items you would just buy the apple or belkin one for about a tenner.
