What's the deal with Pimaninn Hotel Chiang Rai?

Hi all, I'm a chronic lurker on this forum and don't post much, but we like to spend time in CM and CR when we can get away from Australia.

This time in CR we are booked to stay at Pimaninn Hotel out near the Air Force Golf Club. We've never stayed there before but it gets very good reviews.

But ... 2 or 3 times now they've sent me this strange invoice-looking thing all in Thai and when I respond saying "I don't understand Thai" I don't get any reply from them. It seems to be asking for a 7500B deposit, but the total room rate for our stay is only about 2800B.

If anyone in CR, who maybe speaks Thai, was able to give them a call for me and find out what's going on, would really appreciate it. Hate to turn up and find we don't have a room reserved (happened at another place on Jet Yod Road last trip, but happily we found a room next door).

If you can help, please DM me or email me at info[at]asiantraveltips.org.

    Tony

Why don't you post the invoice on here and somebody might be kind enough to translate it for you.

You will just about always save yourself a lot of money and frustration by booking a hotel here through one of the on-line booking services. I've tried most of them and Agoda seem to have the best prices.

I've never had any problem booking a room anywhere in Thailand with them.

I concur with Bob,s statement above. I will be flying in from Qatar on the morning 31st March. I have an appointment with the British Military Attache on the afternoon of that day. I used AGODA to book into The Marriot Hotel on Sukumvit Road for three days. I got instant confirmation at a reasonable price. There online service is very good.

Thetyim - I can't reply to your DM!

Thetyim, thanks for replying by DM. I can't answer by DM as I don't have enough points on TeakDoor yet. Can you email me (info[at]asiantraveltips.org) and I'll send you the details of our booking.

FYI, I've already had the invoice translated to some extent and it still makes no real sense. I don't know what personal details might be in it, so I'm not happy to post it to a forum.

The hotel is very nice and quite large so I would doubt there would be any problems getting a room.

And if not there are another 2 or 3 on the same road including that mad one with all the themed rooms!!!

That's the one. Looked pretty funky but sure the novelty would wear off after about 20 minutes!!

Pimaninn is ok, not the Marriot or Meridian, but good value [at] 600-800 a night.
Pool, fitness, wi-fi. Decent newer hotel. It's not the Marriott or Meridian, but nice and clean by appearances.
Has a lot of Thai tourists that stay there and seems busy most of the time.
Not sure what to say about them sending an e-mail in Thai other than to send them an e-mail in English to try to clarify.
If booked and paid already on-line with them, at their rate on their web site, then think they will have to try to accomodate you if they don't answer and clarify in english before your arrival.

Ladies like the Red Rose Theme Rooms.
